Returning HL2 player seeks guidence

Hi all,

I have been away from HL2 now for many months because of working away from home and away from my beloved PC. Luckily when I return home I will have a brand new Geforce 6800 Ultra AGP card with me, to slot into my P4 3.2ghz. This is a leap up from the system I was previsouly using.

My first couple of times around playing HL2 was quick and rather disappointing, but thats a cmpletely different debate! What I want to know is what Mods would anyone recommend I get to play it around the second time? Also what about Hi-res skin/texture downloads, any recommendations on that front? I am looking for single player mods and extra missions/levels?

Garry's mod is apparently quite fun, although I've never played it myself. The Substance mod is pretty action packed.

Antlions: Deuce or whatever its called is good and will run some large scale battles nice and smooth with a new rig.
 
Beerdude26, they all seem to be Multi player. Any more single player mods or levels?
 
Also, google Das Roboss. Cool sp map. Small though :(

Well that sums it up. You rushed through it, and didn't take the time to look around Eli's Lab and look around well everywhere...
