Revolution Dev Kits Now Out!!!!

Little bit of cool news.

Nintendo has apparently released Revolution development kits already. I read that they were not releasing them until E3 or slightly there after......so....good news. Maybe we'll get some more Revolution details sooner than E3. Hopefully this means more games at launch for the Revolution.

I forgot to add that XBox 2 dev kits shipped out about two weeks ago, but I read that they were only prototype.

Yup, they should get final ones in the summer if all goes to plan.

Right now the dev kits for the Xenon only have 2 CPU's instead of 3 which the final will have, and the GPU is still in Beta, but it should give them a fair idea of the system

Anyways I hope more news gets out about the Revolution... I very much need to know whats revolutionary about it

It has the power of 9GHz, but it's obviously not going to be running that quickly...

Okay, I need a little guidance here! Who wants to put up with the noob?
What exactly is a DevKit?
Now, I know that it's what the developers of the game use to make their games, like....it's their prototype of the console. But is it only a program on their computer, or a new computer altogether, or is it actually an early concept version of the console itself?

Any information would be appreciated, thanks.

Does this have any effect on a Revolution release date? I think i remember hearing that Xbox 2 will be coming out about a year before Revolution and PS3, but if Xbox 2 devkits were sent out only 2 weeks ago, doesn't that mean that Nintendo is only 2 weeks behind Microsoft in development?

It probably means that the XBox 2 release titles will be poor and the Revolution and PS3 releases will be phenomenal

I think MS are giving them out too late. If the XBox 2 is to meet its Christmas release date, the developers will not have enough time to get used to the system and create a top quality game.

However, Nintendo and Sony have given them out just at the right time. Developers will be able to make some top quality games in time for the 06 release.

It's great to see Nintendo finally pulling their hat out of the bag (that isn't an expression but meh) If you register your DS online, you are sent a questionairre about the DS and it basically asks you to downgrade both of the rival consoles and the PSP. And now Nintendo are getting their devkits out and bringing their next-gen console out at the same time as their main competition, Sony. It looks like a good year for Nintendo.

Please, Nintendo, Pleeease do well this generation! I want to be the one laughing and making fun of the unsuccessful sony console this time! It's about time that microsoft and sony were exposed as the unimaginative copycats they are instead of the big innovators that many gamers think they are.
