I went for a bike ride, the first of this season (there's still patches of snow on the ground here) and it was soooo nice. Does anyone else here ride a bicycle? What sort of rides do you do? Where do you go? Ever find anything neat/weird? We have old abandoned logging railroad lines that are great trails (the ties and rails are long gone). Also, the local water supply ditches have wonderful single tracks alongside them. I won't touch the paved roads here - zero shoulder, lots of sketchy corners and even sketchier drivers. Anyone here go overnight bike camping? Man, I've got the fever.

My brother and I love bike riding. We have mountain bikes. We ride trails and shit in the woods.

Where do you live/ride? (I'm trying to picture the forest). Ever see or do anything interesting on a ride?

I ride a fixed speed I picked up last spring. The novelty has worn off though and I plan to sell it this year and hopefully get all of my money back and then just use my Devinci Chicane for getting around town. Road bikes all the way (assuming you live in a city). There is nothing more exhilarating than zipping through traffic drafting buses, laughing at all the suckers stuck in their cars, and knowing that you are the fastest moving thing in the city.

Both bikes cost me around $500, cheap by road bike standards, the Chicane is faster, the Pista is cooler.

I've wanted a decent bike for a long time now. I can't afford a good one that costs a couple hundred dollars or more :(

I just rode my bike to class today for the first time in awhile. You can get there a lot quicker and it was a really nice day out... sunny, about 70 degrees and little wind.

I ride a mountain bike every once in awhile, and where i live, is mountains galore, plus with lots of forest. and anything weird/odd? i found a fox without a head once. :)

I hereby declare we set up a fund raiser to buy Raziaar a bike!

He needs the exercise!

I hereby append Krynn's name to the bike fundraiser. When I get back home I am going to start riding my bike (once i get one) every day for the exercise and enjoyment. I havent ridden a bike in like 8 years.

Same, except it has been a bit longer.

My dad only ever wanted to buy Wal-Mart bicycles... I mean really, it's because they were cheap. It didn't matter that they were entirely uncomfortable and not properly suited to my height and stuff... and that they can be dangerous. They are cheap.

I am sick and ****ing tired of that cheap mentality now that I've grown up. Some things cheap are fine, because you get the same quality either way... but no, ****ing wal-mart bicycles are not "just as good and even better" because they only cost 50-100 bucks.

Geez.

Wish I had the damn money to afford a real bicycle.

I have a mountain bike, its my Dad's old one. It is steel and very very heavy D:

Haven't ridden it for a few years, but the problem is that the gears are bust, need a new gear selector! :(

My Dad (lives in France) is planning on buying a new road bike...going to be costing him over 2000 pounds i think!

D:

But he does a shit load of cycling in the Pyrenees so it is worth it for him

I have a mountain bike that's now probably slightly too small for me. I haven't used it for a while and when I did it was rarely anyway. Unless we go back 5-10 years when I actually used it quite often. Childhood. ;)

Ever see or do anything interesting on a ride?

He just said he shits in the woods, didn't he?

A cyclist in France? That's so cliche.

I really should ride around more. Don't have my own bike at the moment, but dad has this awesome crazy expensivo mountain bike dealie that mum's always bitching at him for never using, so maybe it'd behoove me to take it for a spin every now and then.

Or you could send it my way Bad^Hat :D

I have a nice Specialized mountain bike, I take it out occasionally and ride around my city (sometimes I go a loooong way)

I want to start riding again, I really haven't been on a bike since I got my license, about 6 years ago :(

Bikes are truely great. They let you get to a destination fast, but at the same time allow you to venture into areas you could not with an automobile.

Haha I know :D

Driving around earlier and was behind a cyclist....he was doing 30mph! It was mad, never seen a cyclist easily keep pace with a car :O

Cycling in big cities is the way forward.. anyone see that Top Gear where they raced car/public transport/cyclist from A to B? Oh yeah!

I want to ride my Bicycle.

I want to ride my bike.

I want to ride my Bicycle, I want to ride it where I like.

Bikes scare me. No, for serious. Well, being on one in the middle of the street and it's bent for some reason and you can't turn left and you run into a parked car... that scares me.

I hit a parked car once. Friend said something behind me, so i look back, then Bam! i hit the back of a truck. Got a bloody nose, but the blood was from the outside of my nose :D

I haven't rode my bike in ages though, since I started getting rides to school then I started driving myself.

I hit a car once, it was parked, i was looking to the side and whang into the side of the car, luckily no-one saw and i just go up and kept riding :D when i got home i my mother was all "OH MY GAWD, YOU'RE ARM" and i just told i fell off onto the concrete

On a completely un-related note, my friend came to school once, with a sprained wrist, we asked what happened and he said he had been hit by a car while riding, then our English teacher (at the time) approached us and said he was in the car. :| He then disappeared. D:

I haven't been on a bike in a couple years now probably... I rode all the time when I was really little, though. Anyone ever do that thing where you clothespin a playing card or something on so that it sticks into the wheel spokes to make the cool sound?! Oh yeah!

The big thing these days on the West Coast (of Canada) is full suspension downhill mountain biking. It costs an arm and a leg for the monstrosities of engineering they call bikes, but it's hella fun. If I had the money I'd be doing it.
