Ridley Scott directing Alien Prequel

Ooo, ahhh, tsssss!

Nice to know that this forum is run by 10 year old's now.
You got a personal vendetta against me or something? You seem to be or why else would you be quoting me. By the way, i couldn't care less about the infraction.

You don't care about much, do you? In answer to your question: Yes, I have a personal vendetta against everyone I quote. In fact, I hope they all end up DEAD. Hence quoting them, and subsequently replying to the topic at hand in the hope that this destroys every molecule in their body.

The whole franchise has been broken since Resurrection, so Ridley Scott making the next installment can only be a good thing.

Fixed.

I'd say it's still entirely possible for it to be a mediocre or fairly bad thing.

They killed off Hicks and Newt, unforgivable.

Eh, maybe it was getting too cute with the Mum-Dad-Kid triangle. In a way I liked how arbitrary their deaths were and that it left Ripley alone again. I like the doominess, as if the universe is set on defeating her. In the end the only constant in her life is the Alien, and the misguided ego of men.

Though I guess it would have been nice if she could have had a chance at a normal life again. Yeah.

After what she goes through with them in Aliens? It pissed me right the **** off to learn of their deaths.
It's like all of that was for nothing.

Bring back Ian Holm so we can have some Bilbo Baggins Androids.

See, Holm made Alien for me - Ash is truly the best villain in the franchise.

I agree, he's underrated.

I just loved whispering to my friends during Alien "That's Bilbo Baggins, by the way"

William Gibson's draft of Alien 3 - which had Hicks as the protagonist instead of Ripley - was vastly superior to the movie that was made.

Absolutely. Burke's death was worthless. The Original Corporate Cretin.

There's a deleted scene where Ripley encounters him in the alien nest, all cocooned, when she's on her mission to rescue Newt. She hands him a grenade and carries on her way.

Most people who know the Alien franchise forget about him.

"Who's Ash?"

"The android"

"I don't remember him.. oh, the guy who had milk blood?"

I liked that scene.

Yes, but not apparently included in any release. There's hopes that it'll make it onto the upcoming Blu-Ray Quadrilogy

Most people rather remember Bishop (Lance Henriksen)

Hm, I could have sworn I'd actually seen it. In fact I would have put money on it. I must investigate this matter further.

[EDIT] a few people seem to be reporting that they saw a TV Cut that has that scene in it.

I knew I should have waited for the Blu-Ray quadrilogy. Picked up the quadrilogy on DVD a couple of months ago. The 'Making of Alien' is a must watch for all Alien fans. Ridley's 'Making of..' are always awesome, especially Blade Runner: Final Cut.

I'm not a fan of the directors cut aside from a few interesting scenes. (Haven't seen it in at least 5 years, so I don't quite remember)

I recall showing it to my friend who had never seen Aliens, not realizing it was the directors cut. It really throws off the pace and balance that the theatrical version had.

I could have lived without the exposition about Ripley's daughter in the director's cut (although it does set up the relationship with Newt) but I liked the scene where Newt's family find the (even more) derelict alien ship, and the scene with the sentries serves well to suggest that the aliens themselves are not just mindless drones. Having said that, I saw the director's cut before I saw the theatrical release, so I could just be biased.

The scene is included in the novelisation by Alan Dean Foster, so if you've read that it might explain your confusion..

Agreed, I read this after the film premiered in the 80's and was disappointed that so much stuff in the book wasn't in the movie. The directors cut sorted out most of it though, remote turrets ftw.

The only scene similar to the Burke / grenade one is the final directors cut of Alien that includes Dallas being found alive and torched by Ripley.
