Ridley Scott talks about Alien Prequel

I find it pretty hilarious that stupid people either a) dislike Lindelof simply because of the LOST finale, ignoring the other dozens of episodes he wrote or b) cannot wrap their minds around the idea that he could write something different like any writer can.

Actually I'm not that fond of the writing as a whole, not just the finale of the series. As for your second point, by saying you're excited that he's writing (or tweaking as it were) the script, implies that you think it will be good based on his track record, which I don't find all that great TBH.

However I hope you're right, and he can write a decent Alien script, but I seriously doubt it. I wasn't that excited even with Ridley Scott writing the script either. His recent movies haven't been that stellar...

Oh carry on then. Just wanted to make sure.

Honestly I'm still not expecting anything. I mean, yeah, Ridley Scott hasn't done anything good in a decade, and the Alien movies have been total rubbish since Aliens anyway. It could be awesome, and Lindelof being on board definitely gets me more excited, but I'm not holding my breath.

I've no idea who Lindelof is nor have I seen the Lost finale, I just hate the writing in Lost in general.

Shit comes in different forms and colors. It's still shit in the end.

The writing in LOST kinda sucked IMO, they would build up a certain part only to abandon in later, it's not the mark of genius but of just bad writing. They should've stuck to the 12 episodes that were planned and left it at that.

OK so how about this, we go back to the alien's homeplanet and show his family? He's got a fat, idiotic but lovable dad, a hot mom, a socially reprehensible sister, a retarded brother, and they have a talking alien dog?

i read a short story a long time ago saying that the Space Jockey race were the ones who developed the Aliens

Interesting. So that makes the aliens a sort of synthetic life form?

Lindelof is a fine writer. I think this is exciting news. I shall pat his successful bald head when I see it.

I swear, if I live to be a hundred I will never understand how you of all people like Lost. You hate everything! It's like talking to a grumpy, wickety old grampa who keeps going on about how everything's turned to shit since they introduced automobiles and butter stopped costing two pence a pound, who then suddenly shines up and says "Boy, this Twitter thing is great, innit?"

Yeah, the fact that Samon likes Lost kind of invalidates his status as elite judgmental arbiter of taste. Lost has moments of brilliance that are far, far outweighed by its endless flaws, inconsistencies, and the glaring obviousness of the fact that it was not well planned at all. The writing is sometimes good, mostly awful.

Please, do elaborate.

I don't think you've any idea what you are talking about.

Yes according to this short story the jockey race was at war with the Predators and developed the Aliens as sort of drones. They were comprised of nanomachines. At some point a Queen figured out that her entire race was under a sort of mind control and started trying to develop more brain matter to outthink it but never could. SO she had a drone capture a Predator, ate it's brains and was able to disable the mind control, then told the rest of the hive how, and from then on the Alien race was a rogue entity. Pretty cool actually.

EDIT: Oh i forgot a cool scene in it. While the Predator was being returned to the Queen, the drone dragging it's body was overheating from the stress. So it was having to stop and take breaks, well the Queen noticed this and ordered the drone to have it's nanomachines build exhaust tubes on it's back. Hence why all the aliens have those big tubes coming off their backs.

That sounds terrible. Also, there'll be no Predators in this at all. Thank ****.

Now if you could only somehow persuade Christopher Nolan to direct, then you could die a happy little fanboy!

Seriously? Please tell me you are ****ing pulling my leg >: (

Sorry, as far as I'm concerned aliens and predators are not in the same universe EVER. Therefore that short story is irelevant.

I wish I could travel back in time and murder whoever had the brilliant idea of putting an alien skull in the predator ship in the second movie...

Well, at least we got some cool games out of this union.

I'm just hoping that the production team behind this movie gives it as much effort as they can and that this movie is as great and memorable as the first 2 Aliens movies. I was disappointed with the new Predators movie and I hope this one won't leave a sour taste in my mouth as well.

yeah i agree its ruined alot of the mystique behind the aliens whilst they constantly find new ways to plug them in somehow :(

AVP2 was the only good one.

AVP:Gold was fantastic too, shut up ******.

No, please!
I don't want another confrontation!

Btw, an Alien prequel of any kind will suck so there's no point in having any ounce of interest in it.

Wrong, AvP3 is the worst, and yeah, I'm fully aware of how much you liked it.

Meh, AvP 2 had all sorts of wrongness going on. Yes, I realise I'm in a minority here but I just prefer any game with Aliens in to resemble the movie in some way and not have me running around a god damn comic book version of it.

Though i would appear I should shut the **** up because very few other people agree.

AVP2 was the only good one.

I myself liked the third one as well. Not as good as the second one (and a little 'rough' around the edges), but I still like it alot. As for the new Alien prequel, I just hope this one has some good writing to it. I think the AvP movies would have been good if they had some good scriptwriting to it and a good story to it. That's the first thing I am dreading with the new Alien prequel, bad scriptwriting with a bad story attached to it.

Maybe its just me, but Im finding it hard to see how they could do a prequel to Alien. I mean, the first film was..pretty self explanitory.

Unless they do the whole backstory as to how that ship got there in the first place?

Seems kinda odd.

Obviously theyve said what it will be about, but can they really fill 2 hours of it?
