Rim-Fire's holiday sketches

Not bad, the Javiar one in the A-Wars section is quite good (though I'm fairly sure that's a straight pose). Work on anatomy - everything is flat, out of proportioned.

Javier is just copied straight from the game. My people are not flat D=

I also tried to draw Jess but she just kept looking like David Bowie :p

I read that as "I tried to draw Jesus" and I lol'd because you called him a girl and made him look like Bowie.

They are very flat.

Look up some perspective techniques.
You clearly know some looking at the last drawing but you aren't applying them to your figures.

There are books that cover anatomy and perspective in the same lessons. They'd help you develop I think. Maybe take some classes in figure drawing.

Figure drawing is the best practice ever.

I'm trying to be helpful. I'm sorry if I come off as mean.

BTW, Keo is a local Cyprus beer and is complete catpiss. DON'T ****ING DRINK IT!

Agreed, the Turkish stuff is better.

I lived in Cyprus for almost 3 years, it's still one of my favorite places in the world.

Could you tell me which ones are worse than others? Is Lash more flat than Ashley. Is Katara more badly proportioned than Jay?

Uh... yes.

The difficulty here is that they're all slightly out of proportion (or majorly, in a few cases...). A good tip is to... I don't know, use your imagination to put the wireframe you've drawn on a rack or something. Are those arms way too long? Is that torso ridiculously stretched?

Just so you know: Glenn is intentionally really long.

I tried to draw Eli and Alyx Vance and ended up with two people that look almost vaguely reminicint of them, if you haven't played HL2 in a while. Also Eli looked far too old and Alyx far too long. I need a lot more practice.

We have a book at home "How to draw anything." It's good but unfortunatly there's a lot of sections where it starts going on about using charcoles and other items when I only want to use a pencil. I've gone from a HB to a 4B pencil though, which is much better for drawing.

I want to practice some more so if anyone has any requests I'd be happy to try some different stuff out.

I am.

work on details and proportion. Katara's arms are too skinny, her legs too large and far apart, and the face could use more detail. Other than that, just keep it up and you'll get much better.

I'm really no expert in what makes a good artist (i still remember when my stuff looked flat and whatnot, but can't identify some sort of turning point that made me into a decent artist) so I'd just advise practise, and ****ing lots of it. Reference as much as you can, compare yourselves to others - what makes this look off?

You have to literally take steps back.

Don't worry about drawing video game creations. Draw some things from life. Once you know how things like body parts work it makes exaggerating those features easier.

And I've said this before but I don't think I stressed it's importance...

FIGURE DRAWING.
AND LOTS OF IT.

I've probably done thousands. None of them works of art but all of them help you discover form and proportions better then any book that claims to teach you to 'draw anything'

After you got that down, anatomy and perspective are easy.

You have the ability, you just need to widen your skill set.
