Rioting escalates in Iran

It could be good for US support in invading Iran I guess. I just hope it doesn't turn into another Iraq. Yeah it's good though, they're against their oppressive government and are doing something about it.

I'd consider it a good thing. If the US invades Iran it'd be ultimate facepalm, our resources are already stretched unbelievably thin.

we usually support the revolts before we go to war. its much cheaper but if it doesn't pan out we really don't look like fools right away

It's entertaining...but in all seriousness I wish the Iranian people good luck.

there's always some poor **** who gets hit way too hard. rip

Invading Iran would be a terrible thing, especially given this rioting.

This brings back to mind the Islamic revolution where the Shah's security forces used brutal methods of suppression and that only gave momentum to the revolutionaries. I've read in an article (by Gwynne Dyer ?) that there is also another shadow power struggle going on, between the clerical instituitions and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. Which many Iranians don't want to happen. The Ayatollah's power has already waned.

Speaking of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, how long do you think until they are unleashed on the protesters ?

I support the Iranian struggle, so therefore I believe it's best the US doesn't get involved directly.

Besides, U.S. directly giving support even political support may backfire on the reformists. As it may provide further ammunition to the hardliners.

You make no sense at all. In one thread you argue that a government must decide whats best for the people in order for them to move on and progress, yet here you are backing an Iranian revolution over a totalitarian society, what the **** Saturos?

I'm just wondering how long the Iranian people are going to tolerate this shit before they oust the current regime.

TBH I really hope they do, cant imagine the waste of lives and suffering if the government beats them down into submission.

People have died to be heard so I hope something comes of it.

IMO, I think this is going to end in the hardliners and reformists compromising. Probably a power sharing agreement.

I simply just don't agree with the Iranian totalitarian government's point of view but yet at the same time, it's in the US's best interest not to get involved with the affairs of other nations.

Especially not under false pretenses.

Yeah, I hope this turns out for the best. I don't think there's any way, even peaceful, that we (the US) could help that wouldn't be problematic.
