So as I'm sure people who care already know, Top gear lost its lead host (and maybe even James? [His twitter bio says "formerly" a tv host ])

So I'm curious how everyone else is taking it? Any top gear fans here?

And what about you brits? How you handling it? Nick?

Just an American Top Gear UK fan

I've been a big Top Gear fan since more or less when the series was revamped in the early 2000's. It's pretty sad to see it go, and there's basically no way any group of people set to replace Clarkson and co. next year will ever, EVER live up to the standards of the past 12 or so years.

That said, they had a damn good run, and it's no surprise Top Gear is/was the biggest non-sporting television show in the world. At the end of the day, it's still just a TV show, so it's not really worth getting annoyed over. I'm more than confident we'll see all three presenters reunite soon under a different banner, hopefully something up and coming or original, like Netflix.

I dunno, do they have any experience in web startups? I can't see them creating something as big as Netflix.

I'm pretty bummed about this. I love Top Gear, not only for the cars, but the writing, cinematography, locations, and chemistry of the hosts were all part of one great package.

And now I also won't see the McLaren vs Porsche vs Ferrari match up.

Here's what May's been up to lately:

And Clarkson is riding bikes now:

Hammond's probably moved to USA by now and joining NASCAR commentary team on FOX Sports.

Don't forget his latest endeavor.

As for May and Hammond, I imagine they'll renew their contracts with the BBC for the time being, but not for Top Gear. They've both had pretty successful programs across the BBC, and I can imagine they'll look into bringing those back while the dust settles. Once the Clarkson hype has died down, broadcasters may start to creep forward in an attempt to grab the trio. I imagine that'll be the moment May and Hammond really move on from the BBC.

Yeah, I wanted to see the P1+918+LaFarrari showdown too :/ I also wanted to see the new AWD focus, The new GT vs NSX, and the new mustang :/

Doesn't this just make you cry?

Sadly, that's what you get for being fans of a self-destructive arsehole

Clarkson's a c*nt, but it sucks to see a really long running series go.
Essentially this. I watched Top Gear occasionally and I liked it but Jezza is undoubtedly a bit of a knob. I'm obviously not as devastated as the people sending death threats to the producer he punched. But, you know, if they think they have a solid argument for why he definitely shouldn't have been fired, I invite them to go into their place of work and punch their boss to see how well it works out for them.
