That's true.

Of course it's wrong to even discriminate in the first place but yes, exile is better than death obviously.

The thing is, it's arguable that it wasn't all Hitler's fault. Before I proceed, please note I see this as a damning indictment of all humans rather than specifically Germans.

There's a strong argument for the idea that the nazi regime was a chaotic one and that it wouldn't have been able to exist without general consensus. And make no mistake, it had the consensus of most Germans at the time. Hitler, the argument goes, did sod all from sunup to sundown. He simply provided a figurehead and the central 'vision' behind the nazi 'ideology' (loath as I am to gift it with that classification). And for most people, it was great. There was no real organisation to the nazi party, and Hitler was not in total control - his underlings fretted about and basically tried to out-hitler hitler. They'd try do to whatever they could to impress him, to carry out his general plan with their own ideas thrown in.

A perfect example of this:

There were four different agencies all self-styled as 'Hitler's personal agency'. And you know what their job was? Sifting through fanmail. Lots of it. But one of these agencies got an idea from some crazy bastard. The letter said:

Wassup, yo? My child is like, deformed, and you say we shouldn't corrupt the purity of our race. So can I like, euthanise him?

"What a brilliant idea!" the leader of said agency thought. He took the idea to its logical extension - why not euthanise EVERYONE who was mentally or physically handicapped? "Hitler will love this," he thought, rubbing his hands with glee. And Hitler took one look at it and said "yeah, right, nice one. Sure, here's my signiture." The doctors gave their co-operation. See, it's not feasable that one man or one group of people could force an entire nation against its will. The individual people, in many cases, were quite willing to 'do their duty'. And of course, there were exceptions - there always are - but they were the minority by definition.

Another good example is the duty of the Gestapo. Most of their work, it was discovered, was not anything to do with sneaking or spying. No, their biggest job was sifting through the millions of snitch reports they got every day from ordinary citizens claiming their neighbours were commies, and decide which ones were worth acting on.

Now, bear in mind this is a certain argument and not necessarily my opinion. This is the Structuralist argument: and some take it so far as to claim that Hitler never had any knowledge of the Final Solution. Of course, I believe that even if he didn't know about it, he would have been fully in support of it if he did. He was a total c*nt.


Anyway, my point is that it's a little more complicated than 'thx to Hitler Germany has to say sorry every ****ing year.'

Germany has to say sorry becuase it commited (not Hitler), the most appalling and disgusting act the world has ever seen.
I don't blame Germans, but I do blame anyone who voted for Hitler.

I very much doubt that every history book is wrong and you are right. Generally an invasion of a country by a hostile army would qualify as an act of war.

1941 was the year America joined the war. I don't where you got 1915 from.

Anyone else remember these girls on Louis Theroux and the Nazi's episode, where he stayed with the Skin heads. That was brilliant, especially when he wouldn't tell them if he was jewish or not, they didn't know what to do. They contradict themselves left, right and centre. Lynx and Lamb and April were sad cases too. The mum home schooled them because they don't each 'the right history' at school. Oh and if either girls ever got a black boyfriend, the mother said she'd turn her back on the girl. Its sad, and those girls will never get anywhere. Louis Theroux's shows are really good btw.

Indeed. Skinheads are not nescessarily Nazis (ive met several skinheads who see it as a sort of duty to beat seven shades of shit out of Nazi skins), but the Neo-Nazi movements kinda stole the look, and now everyone thinks skins are rascists.

Some people think that crew cuts are nazi attire. Some stupid kid at my school (happened to be jewish) thought that all of us football players were nazis because of shaved/close cut hair. And he had the nerve to say write that in the school newspaper.
