Anyone into Risk?

We should get a long HL2.NET game going. They can go on forever.

Do you even put any time into your threads? Like, maybe you could have found some freeware Risk game that we could actually play together?

Instead of just a hotlinked picture.

Risk is a board game. You can play by posting which moves/dice rolls you are doing.

I am not talking about playing software. This is the "general games" forum right? Or is it just restricted to video games?

I wasnt even aware there was a freeware/computer version. I am talking about the board game.

People play this game all the time via chat and the games can go on fooooreeeevvveerr

RL 2.0

I'd hate to play this over chat. Freeware version please.

Haha, do you play Solitare on the internet using real cards?

Let's get a game of Spades going.

Yeah right that's what makes it awesome. It's about long term strategy and planning. Just like Chess. Lots of people play chess online via chat/email.

Sorry, but you can have the same strategy in expedited games.

With a game like I posted, the lux delux thing, you can have tons of games in the same amount of time it would take you to play the original one. You can have them be slow too, but the ability to enforce time limits and stuff makes it good.

The length of time a risk game doesn't make it a better game. You can train yourself to be good at the game and make very good moves in like 15 seconds or less.

It's like speed chess vs regular chess(with two people who take forever for their turns).

If other people had Lux Delux, it'd be cool to play with them. I bought it years ago. They're having a summer sale or something where it's just 13 bucks or close to that.

I have too many games I have to play though, not sure if I want to juggle yet another one.

That Lux game looks pretty cool too but I love me a classic, longterm boardgame like Risk.

Anyone online on the Lux game Raziaar posted? Should get an hl2.net thing going.

Every
Board
Game

Has an online version.

And it works fine. In fact, since most everything is computerized it goes a lot faster.

Risk is pretty good. But I think it's too... straightforward (unobfuscated?) as a game of attrition, for the scope it tries to have, and it ends up feeling unbalanced as a result. There are "superior" versions like Attack! and Axis & Allies, but they take even longer to play :(

It was very unbalanced, that's why they added all those continent attack points (new paths to Australia, for example), in later versions of the game. I prefer the original, regardless. It's just smaller; simpler; much more fun. It's too simple of an instruction set to make the game any better, like Risk II, for example: huge map, totally boring.

I kick so much ****ing ass at [the original] Risk, not many here could stand a chance.

EDIT: Flexes dice muscles

Let's play the Xbox version with nazi cats and ****in zombies and shit lol

I got this off my friend. Played for about 10 minutes, never again.

Anyone else play this on WC3, it was really good but I don't remember it ever catching on. Not sure why, the games took about 45 mins which is the perfect amount of time and it was really well set out.
Might see if I can find it!
