Robots are amazing....

Ya amasing!

...and freakin creepy...I hope robots don't get too humanlike...actually it's almost too late to hope for that :(

People actually believe robots will one day kill us all?

I really don't want to under estimate how quickly we develop their capabilities, all it would take is to one day have someone figure out howto replicate the brain and place that in control of a robot.

Even still I would assume certain robots can still be automated and possibly dangerous.

I love that spider bot thing.

It will take a very advanced robot to compete with humans for several reasons.

1. Intelligence, we are likely to first create a self aware system with a much more basic "brain" than ourselves, posing little threat even if it does go off the handle, the human brain has so much power.

2. Resources, until all refinery/mines e.t.c are completely controlled by a network of robots then we still have them on a tight leash.

3. Numbers, it would take a decade for robots to construct enough of themselves to compete with the number of humans on the earth.

Basically they would only win if you gave them control of nuclear weapons e.t.c a la skynet which i doubt anyone bar bush is stupid enough to do.

Those robots were well rubbish. Not ONE of them had a laser cannon or anything like that - I mean, what's the POINT of having a robot without a freaking laser cannon. Or a rocket launcher. Something. Anything.
I'd even settle for just a minigun on that old folks' home robot.
I'm not being unreasonable here.

I hope that Will Smith doesnt see this thread, hes going to be PISSED!

Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind.

Pfffffff, robots can be pwned. EMP nades, nukes emit EMP waves, thats what bugs me about the animatrix.

They show these robots walking thru/by a nuclear blast because radiation doesnt hurt them....... BUT WHAT ABOUT THE EMP WAVE?!?!?!?

Besides, Vampires are much more likely to enslave the human race.

I was watching this and was just blown away at what we are having machines doing nowadays. My theory that Skynet is soon to be proven.

That 'mule' (first vid) looks freaky and unnatural

Would you be content with a robot that was capable of kicking somebody in the backside?

I saw this on the Colbert Report a few weeks ago, It was one of the threats on the threat down, where he said that this robot is going to steal jobs from real donkeys and eventually uprise and destroy mankind. Then he started to cry when he saw that guy in the red jacket kick it because robotic mules have feelings too.

wow those are all kick ass!

PS: I'm also looking forward to being an old man now in 50+ years, laziness ftw!

It's a sad reflection on myself that I felt sorry for it too :p

That RI-MAN thing scares the shit out of me. He looks shifty for one, but I just can't shake the feeling that his "picking up humans" ability is really going to be used to pickup people he's just knocked-out, so that he can put them in the Organ Trader's meat-van.

Then you find out, through advances in genetics and bio-engineering, thats its compulsory to work for another 120 years

[vader]NOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooo[/vader]

what kinda dissepoints me is that they are controled and not completely thinking of their own. In one video were the robots fighting you can see the guy with the controler. It is amazing to see what these robots can do...but when i see a guy controling every movement they make...kinda blows it for me, i want the robot to THINK and ACT by itself!

Creating a self-aware robot is pretty much a scientific impossibility.

Expand.

Unless you mean by the meaning of the word "robot"

Any robot is just a series of switches that you turn on or off. Sometimes there are over a million switches, maybe in the future there will be trillions. The self-aware mind does not just have 2^n possibilities of thought.

I dunno, that robot that was able to keep balance while walking and getting kicked was rather impressive I Thought.

very cool stuff
i especially like the last one
the 'transformer'

We can't makes robots > human brain if we don't know how out brains work in the first place.

in 50 years time we will have something similar to the Terminator
