Couldn't find the thread which had this in to ressurect this so I started this one :p

Some time ago, someone linked to here for free downloads of GTA, GTA 2 and Wild Metal

http://rockstargames.com/classics/

Well they work now (sever was overloaded before), so if you still want them and forgot about them, here you go! :D

Sweet!

Yeah I couldn't get them last time cos the servers overloaded. Thanks for reminding us!

HAHAHA I tried every day for like a month but the servers were overloaded.

Thanks for the reminder.

Cool! I finished Vice City a week ago (again, but 100% completion this time hehe) just to keep me busy 'till San Andreas came along. Now this :D

You roxorz teh big one Murray!

I think I was one of the few to love GTA2, Its desapointing when people think GTA3 was the first one and they don't know the story behind GTA.

Although how they can think GTA 3 was the first is beyond me...

Still have my hardcopy of the first one.

I downloaded this a few weeks ago, but I couldn't get my joypad to work even though I configured it in the options, so I uninstalled...

GTA 1&2 were just too difficult,. driving in top-down view doesnt work well.

We've got just over a week before San Andreas comes to the PC. w00t!

The first 2 GTA's were more fun and EXCELLENT in LAN!! :p

However, and this is a big however, the first GTA is unplayable on powerful machines upwards of ~1GHz.

This is because of the way the game engine was programmed (I don't know the technical in's and out's). The faster your machine, the faster the game will run, and the framerate limiter doesnt work effectively.

There are applications available which will slow down your processing power, hence "emulating" older machines, but it will not hold a consistent speed in-game... ;(
