Ross Scott leaves Machinima

The guy who makes the Freeman's Mind series. The stuff about youtube in that post was the most interesting, I think

I can't find a single Machinima video worth watching these days.

When machinima comes for our youtube channel we'll definitely sell out tell them where to go!

I've read a couple stories about people who earn their living via youtube / twitch and there seems to be a common theme. It's all well and good until the platform makes some changes and suddenly you don't have food on the table. The streaming providers seem hugely inept at paying up or honouring contracts, meanwhile partners on youtube are being evasive. Feels like the whole model is coming apart for whatever reason. Seems a bad way to make your living to me, it's far too unreliable & exploitative by partners, which is a terrible shame because there are some really excellent content producers out there.

The solution, I think, is ensuring content views are through a source you control (i.e., a website). The unfortunate thing, though, is that driving views through an outside website is almost impossible unless you have the backing of a major website of some kind.
