I'm looking for recommendations on games that have a high level of interactivity with the gameworld.

Basically, think Ultima 7 where you can gather wheat from a field, then use it to get mead and bake bread etc.

Sorta weird request I know but I recently played through Ultima 7 again and was absolutely amazed by how much random shit you could do.

Also, note, I'm looking for game recommendations, not mods for games etc.

Thanks in advance for any helpful replies!

Only thing I can think of is Oblivion, but surely you've tried that one.

Dwarf Fortress, again, lol.

Eve Online
Dungeons and Dragons board game

Goddamnit, I've been playing DF since 2006..

I wish Toady'd get off his ass and release the next version soon!

The Harvest Moon series is great for this, if you're not limiting yourself to PC RPGs, that is.

Also, if you're an MMORPG guy, Lord of the Rings Online has an impressive amount of this kind of thing. You can grow your own pipe weed + other crops and use it for stats.

The game is so damn hard. Playing it feels like coding a kernel in ANSI C.

I don't see the fun tbh, but to each his own.

Different pipe weeds also offer different smoke figures. It is one of the most awesome features of that game. Too bad the combat was so boring imo, because otherwise LotR:O would have been a WoW killer for me.

Nethack. The only time I've heard of this game is from descriptions of its ridiculous interactivity on TVtropes, but it really makes me want to play it.

Just read the first entry on this page.

Morrowind (to a lesser extent oblivion) + MODS

It has mods that allow you to do things like pickup the hammers around town and use them to create armors.

But you need the raw materials so you have to use pick axes to mine the materials, hammer them into armor pieces etc. Enhancements to the alchemy also allows you to create stuff.

Another mod lets you feltch your own arrows.

Mannequin mods that let you put wooden mannequins in your house and collect/dress them in all the armor sets.

Another mod made it so you could set up a fire/camp/sleeping place, were required to eat everyday or loose health, etc.

I see your point, U7 is still my favourite RPG. Unfortunately, that level of interactivity seems to be lost in time.

If all you need is random crap to do, it sounds like an MMO would be absolutely perfect. World of Warcraft being the obvious choice for that...

Not into online RPGs/MMOs :\

Thanks anyway.

If I was, I'd probably just play Ultima Online since it has crafting to the extreme.

Risen has stuff like collecting plants to make potions, mining ore with a pick axe to forge into weapons, digging up treasure, cooking the meat of dead animals, picking up clams to look for pearls, etc. That seems to be the closest recent game to what you're looking for.

Yeah Risen is another great example multivac, just got it the other day, that's what made me think to ask for new suggestions as well :)

unozero, I have indeed, as well as the third!

I know of 'lajv' roleplaying.. But that video has left me.. Speechless.
