It would be nice to have an RSS feed. I use one for Steampowered.com, using my IM client. It would be useful for me to see the announcements all the time and it would probably be useful to those who own RSS capable cell phones, etc.

Just an idea...

I'll sort it out in a bit, very busy bashing these spoilers atm

Most sites now have RSS feeds which basically means you can have a panel as part of your web browser that will connect to the news system of your favourite sites, such as us, maybe Fallout and SteamPowered. It will list all the news items and I think it automatically updates and refreshes itself when there's new news.

Extremely useful, thanks!

Now I can see updates whenever I chat with someone

Erm, exactly how do I make it work in say... FireFox?

Firefox doesn't support RSS. RSS is a news feed in XML, and only programs that can read RSS (such as my Trillian Pro plug-in) can get it.

As FF v1.0RC is out and supports RSS any thoughts help enableing it here?

On other sites such as slashdot an RSS icon (bottom right) appears, but it doesn't here, sorry i don't know how slashdot dies it though. :(

EDIT: Found it: Bookmarks->Manage Bookmarks, File->Add Live Bookmark

RSS bandit is a program which you guys might like. I'm not sure exactly what it does but i read that it was very useful.

Ah. So that's what the RSS thing on the steam forums is ? Thanks for clearing that out. How can I take advantage of it ? Is there like a plugin for IE or something ? (Total n00b at this, so go ahead and pwn me)

There are all sorts of plug ins for it, but the desktop app that ATI4EVER! recommended is pretty cool.

It just sits in the system tray and you can set it to check for RSS feed updates every minute. You hardly notice it working at all, it won't affect you while you're playing online games, and it will tell you when your favourite sites get updated with news.

It's pretty cool :)

Ok, thanks. I'm off to download RSS Bandit then .. Nice to be updated on steam news.
