First of all, let me say, I think the activation system rules. For too long honest people have been paying for games other people just download illegally. However, I have a couple of questions.

I bought the Silver edition. Does anyone know what the rules for multiple installs are? Can I install Steam on my work PC also and have it download Half-Life 2 again? (Don't tell my boss.) I obviously won't be using both at the same time. Will this get my Steam account banned? What if I get a new PC? Can I install Half-Life 2 on as many different PCs as I want to, as long as I'm never playing on two PCs at the same time? Or do I have to buy Half-Life 2 again if I get a new PC?

Does anyone know the rules? What can we do and what can't we do? Should I be asking Valve this instead?

simply install steam on another computer and login to your steam account. The games you've bought are connected to your steam account not your computer!

its possible you could install on more thasn one but they cant be active at the same time...

play hl2 on computer 1 you cant on computer 2
play hl2 on computer 2 you cant on computer 1

Well I so far have been able to play HL2 on 2 computers at the same time. I really really don't like that because people can give their account to a friend or a bunch of friends, and they all can play at the same time from what I have found out myself.

I think this could really hurt HL2 sales, so I am REALLY against this. I don't think you can be on a multiplayer game on the same server, but I do think that you and someone else could be logged into the same account, and play on 2 seperate servers, just not on the same one.

Anyways HL2 can be played on 2 computers at the same time with the same account. I am positive about that. This is very lame, but it's true.

So what's stopping the warez people from sharing their Steam account with other people? Nothing? Or do you think Valve checks when you login with Steam on a different PC if the game has been downloaded with that account more than X times? So 6 billion people can't use the same Steam login?

Who wants to sure a real steam account with anyone? People have paid $50+ for this game, and people could probably get it banned for cheating or something.

They also can change e-mail and password and everything if they got control of a Steam account. You would have to be able to trust the people you give the account info too.

I think people just don't want to waste $50 for people either. Warez people are creating it, so that no one has to pay to get a steam account, so there won't be anyone at all paying for the game.

I am still testing this out with HL2 because I didn't have to much time to play yesterday, but me and my friend were playing at the same time yesterday for about an hour and a half, and were talking to each other over TeamSpeak2. This is just my experience so far.

Yeah, so basically if you have a STEAM account with the proper registration in terms of games, you can pretty much download them on as many PC's as you want, just as long as you log in to your account.

maybe so it wont sdtop you but the eula actually states against it

Heres what you could do though, you could find like 5 or 20 or whatever amount of your friends and each pay between 2.50$ to 10$. Then take tunrs installing Half Life 2. Hell, if it was only 2.50$ I don't think any one would have a problem not being able to play cs:s :p

I DID NOT SAY THAT I HAVE OR ANY ONE SHOULD DO THIS I AM SIMPLY STATING THE FACT THAT IT IS POSSIBLE
