Rumor....

This rumour has been going around for quite a while, but still, interesting stuff. By nabbing FF the 360 would be flipping the PS3 over and doing it up the wrongun.

Hmmmm, might happen in the long run. Not sure... Also remember if its not an exclusive that doesn't mean its still not coming out on the PS3.

And, as history has shown time and again, it will all boil down to first party exclusives when you have two identical ****ing consoles on the market. IMHO, there should be no exclusive, less first-party, on either of these consoles...and, it appears as if that's the way it's going. Metal Gear Solid 4 is next...

They brought that online FF game over to the 360, so I'm sure they'll end up bringing the series over.

Yes that was the only reason i was goin to get a PS3 now i don't have to woo.

There are a few reasons I want to get a PS3, and this game is one of them....I'm still in no rush to buy ANY next gen console. Still having shit tons of fun with my PS2

What is with all of this old old old news being dug up for giggles??

Anyway, the new engine that they designed for FF13 (the White Engine) was developed specifically with the PS3's architecture in mind, so I think it is highly unlikely that this one will see a port or a simultaneous release anytime soon. That said, I know they licensed the UE3 for next-gen games after FF13, so that tells me that furutre titles will likely be on both consoles and maybe even PC because UE3 can be used to great effect on all of them with relative ease.

Square Enix might be porting FF13 content into a UE3 engine build, to allow for a working build on the 360/PC.

Actually im pretty sure I read somewhere the 360 was using the White engine for I forgot what so its not that unlikely.

Bottom of the article.

It can be used on other platforms :O

Well I forgot where I read it (Another Link I'll have to find) but Square Enix is doing some FF anniversary party in may and word is they invited microsoft :O That coupled with sony confirming FF13 wont be exclusive. Guess we'll just wait and see.

If this turns out to be true it probably wouldn't do wonders for Sony, but it's nowhere near as bad as losing GTA4 exclusivity. That's really the only significant release that Sony has lost so far, except for Assassins Creed ... but that wasn't really an exclusive anyway, Ubisoft was just holding out trying to bargain with Sony.

Anyway, while it's certainly a more even fight than last generation, Sony still has the best exclusives, for me at least. The only game I'm missing out on is Mass Effect, until it comes to PC.

Man do I want to be at that party!!! If only for the FFT info!!!

I think it will likely turn out to be some part of the FF13 experience on 360, but not the actual main FF13 game itself. I am not sure I like all of the spin-offs frankly, but some of them might be very interesting. The FF12 game (Revenant Wings) for the DS looks awesome!!!

Concerning Sony's PS3, Sakaguchi is unimpressed, stating, "Kutaragi-san's architecture ... seven DSPs and a low-powered CPU. I don't like the PS3's architecture." Sakaguchi believes that programmers want to create good software, but PS3 designer, Ken Kutaragi, has made it very difficult. The PS3 disses don't stop their either. When questioned about motion control, Kutaragi says that he finds it unnecessary for the kinds of games he develops (RPGs). Furthermore, he notes that the 360 controller is the "the best one that I've seen, especially the analog. And it's easy to operate, and it's really reactive, unlike the Sixaxis."

When questioned about Final Fantasy and how he would feel about competing with it should it ever grace the 360, Sakaguchi welcomes the challenge. Furthermore, he believes the series should be ported to the Xbox 360, as it would be very successful in North America and Europe. He also notes that the White Engine (Final Fantasy XIII's engine) is multiplatform, implying that a 360 port would be relatively easy.

Finally, Sakaguchi says that Gears of War impressed him so much, he's interested in developing a shooter himself. Hit the "read" link for the full interview.
Ouch. That pretty much sounds like what I've been saying since before the PS3 even came out.

I don't really want to buy any console, but these days, If you like video games, you sort of have to give in, which pisses me off, but as 1 person, I won't be able to change this.

Of course the PS3 is a powerful system, that is undeniable - but I had decided before it even came out that if anything, I would get a 360 (for many reasons I won't restate here), but I still don't want one bad enough. The Wii looks great, and I might get one of these eventually. Paper Mario on the Wii looks tight.

Maybe by the time FF13 comes out (you know, if all this talk is true), I'll give in and get a 360. I do want quite a few of the games the Box has, but none of them are enough to make me buy the console yet. I mean, I could buy one right now, but there are other things in life I'd rather have.

For one, I'm really reluctant to pay 59.99 for games. As a PC gamer, I can go to the store and get games $10-20 cheaper than that (when new), and the massive overdose of mods keep them interesting for years and years.

I still have Doom1 installed, with mods that change it to 3D models and upgrade all the textures, etc.

PC's rule, and it disapoints me that the vast majority of games rarely come to the PC.

I think FF13 will be really good, after all, 13 is a 'lucky' number. FF for me is sort of love hate. It really depends on the execution. I didn't like some FF games, but really loved others in the FF series.

I think the high powered platforms will make up for some disapointments, and you can bet everything you own that this will at least be a good game, but more than likely, it will be one great game.

You can safely bet your ass that the graphics will be of the highest caliber, and with that out of the way, all they have to do is not 'drop the ball'.

The best elements from all of the series would make this the best FF yet.

Oh, and that's crazy he said he want's to develop a shooter now. Interesting.

I think FF13 is going to be quite special. Square Enix did wonders with FF12 (i've only played a friends copy for a few hours and can see how much the series has been rejuvenated) and now have a far more powerful console to play with. Expect production values through the roof and one of the most grand games ever made - if FF does something right, it's getting that epic feel.

I'm begining to have doubts about picking up a PS3 - FF remaining exclusive would eliminate them completely.
