Rumour: Nintendo Feel

So why do the moderators tolerate your presence again? I mean, it's not as if anyone but you would really care if you weren't here anymore.

Anyway, not gonna go for another console. Frankly, like Zephos said, I just don't see the gimmicks really working in its favor. However, based on what I've heard of the new Mario, I will definitely have to play that, so I pray that it's released for Wii as well.

Sorry if your sarcasm meter is broken it was meant as a joke.I'm sure Warbie understood since I said the same thing a few months ago.I wouldn't miss you either btw.

Man I've gotta open up a sarcasm meter repair place that's where the big bucks are tbh

well that's better then Wii.

the other day this old asian lady came in asking for a "wii wii" I'm not kidding.

Aparently it's just called the "Nintendo".
If it's true, that name makes me think 2012 is slightly more likely to actually occur. We're already converging from "Nintendo <console>" to "Nintendo". From there, it's a hop and a skip to VR, and then a jump to virtual enslavement :D

Can't be arsed making another thread now that the Wii U's been announced, so I'll just dump this here.

Couple facts that have come to light that prospective buyers might want to consider:

It won't be backwards compatible for Gamecube games. It will play Wii ones though, obviously, and supports all the peripherals.

Which could be a good thing, because it may only support one Wii U controller per console. Miyamoto says they're "doing research" to see if it's possible to accommodate more, but otherwise your mates are stuck with regular Wii controllers or... their 3DSs. Heh, did someone mention Crystal Chronicles? :v

Also, confirmed that the WiiU version of Aliens: Colonial Marines will use the new controller as a motion tracker.

Yes.

Twice yes.

So you're saying all Aliens fans have to go out and buy the Wii U or become xenomorph-bait?

I guess I have little choice then.

But on a serious note, I am still unsure.

I'd be more interested if it had GC B/C since then there'd be more games on it that I haven't played but want to.

Will have to see what other titles are definitely announced that aren't multiplatform.

I don't know what I feel about this. I hate the name that is for sure but I guess I can get used to it.

I just hope when they full announce the console it self that it is something decent and not too underpowered becuase I want more real games like the PS3/XBOX/PC get. Also the price, god I can't wait to see what that controller costs.

The Wii U will probably retail @ $400 is my guess. did they confirm the price yet or do you think that'll be at the next E3?

No price, I think either next E3 or TGS in October(?). I think that game conference they have in Leipzig now, Nintendo either don't go or its still too soon to finalise the hardware.

I cann see all the old people bitching "why is it so much more then the last Wii?? Where am I" etc

lol that guy is the ****ing worst at console shooters, the game looks pretty fun though.

[edit] 03:02 - mouse acceleration confirmed for WiiU

Nintendo will be a games-only company after this crapshoot, like Sega.

Yes, they must really be reeling from the massive failure of the Wii, and the terrible losses they make on the sales of all their hardware.

Yeah, because old consoles will help them in the future? The Wii is on its downward curve. It was $250 and had no competition. It was a one-off.

3DS sales are weak. You have to try it to "get" it, and you have to try the WiiU to "get" it, so nobody will get it. The Wii didn't have that problem. Even I bought one on day one.

Third-party support will be as shit as usual - like the Wii. They're expecting third-parties to revolutionise gaming with this controller, when all they'll do is ports of the 360/PS3 versions, with a minimap on the screen. If they're lucky, maybe the same dev team will make it, but it'll probably be farmed out to the same dev's who make the 360-Wii ports. Third-party support is meaningless if the WiiU version isn't as good as the 360/PS3 or better. CoD was on the Wii, remember, but it was shit.

Well, shit guys, StardogChampion has seen the future. Time to close it down!

But, Stardog, you forgot to take one important variable into the equation-

the consumer is stupid

I thought that at first and then you see why, he was using the accelerometer. Poor guy probably had to go through boot camp to get that good

At yet the Kinect sold like ****ing hotcakes.

I kind of get your point with the 3DS, since there's not really any way to demonstrate it's effect unless you have the device, but the Wii U is pretty straight forward. The only test is whether or not there's any demand for it. I'm sceptical, but the ability to play on the controller while someone else watches telly will probably be a hit with parents/spouses.

Man, even Stardog has a Wii? Now I feel like a non-gamer!

I just realised that the Wii U will come with a touch-screen tablet that will probably connect via bluetooth (that's how the remotes work after all). If the touch screen is any good I'll buy it just for that! (assuming that someone makes good drivers for it, obviously)
