Something else to note - if Doom didn't turn your crank, or perhaps did not turn it one complete rotation, it's starting to sound like you won't have long to wait for Half-Life 2. Valve just announced that on the 17th of this month, the Half-Life 2 "Pre-load" will begin, consisting of art and audio assets that won't change before release. I wish that I'd just said it a day earlier, because then I would have the universal affection of my peers - but I'd heard that review sites are already being contacted by PR about getting a copy over Steam for their articles soon.

Some of the press got it beforehand. Case in point, PC Gamer had beaten and reviewed the game weeks before it came out.

Definately won't happen. I'm not sure this site could even be classified as a "fan-site" if it could get a copy early for any purpose.

Press always get it first, well in most cases..... Maybe they won't let online people get it early like they did with Doom3 =x

I can onlly say one thing though... Jesus VALVe has done an awesome job at keeping the HL2 MP a secret!!!!!

*edit* I predict like a 10% chance that like HL2.net and such get an early copy for review.... If anything HL2.net will because they are supported by valve, but meh I still seriously doubt it

Hate to say it, but: Released early = Warez'd early. IMO.

Look at doom3. Although I'll just wait and buy the boxed copy (Have my CE already pre-ordered) many people will probably d/l it off bit or NG's.

I work for a PS2 site, so I sometimes get PS2 games one or two days early to get a head start. It's nice and all, but now I wish I worked for a PC site

Hell, I live in Seattle so Value wouldn't even have to send me a review copy -- I'd drive down to them and pick it up and quickly run home and install it.

A reliable source from hl2.net told me that they would get a review copy.. And I'm not joking. I don't think my source is either, cause my source (could be a he or she ) is very very reliable ..

Also, I don't care if they get the game for a week, cause they prolly just get access to it through steam and it will be deleted when they are done with the review.

That's what I think.. Pi knows the best Cause I'm just a stupid kid.
