The fan site Oblivion-Lost.com informed us they have released 17 new movies (~101 MB) of the multiplayer of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl which was demonstrated at the recent "Igrograd Exhibition" in Kiev/Ukraine. Word is: "They are especially a must-see, because some all-new features like the buying menu, 3 new anomalies in action and more are shown. Furthermore, find a report and 32 pictures at your disposal.

Here are the impressions:
- If someone shoots at you and you shoot back and take away the same amount of health at the same time, both will die.
- The name of the multiplayer map was "testers_mp_factory".
- I noticed 3 anomalies: "Shock", a gravitational anomaly and the "Meat Mincer".
- The so called "Shock" anomaly strikes you with lightning. I sprinted through it when it began to charge, but, fortunately, it didn't get me.
- The second anomaly "sucked" the player in and killed him.
- And the third one was incredible. I still don't fully understand what it does in the begining, but after you're killed, in it the dead body begins to spin (or swirl) in the air and explodes like a baloon, that is, torn into pieces (see video). A great thing - lots of blood.
- On the level mentioned, there were 3 dead, static cars - a Kraz, Kamaz and Zaporozhets.
- Ragdolls were amazing.
- Respawn looks cool, reminiscent of the Terminator movies: When the process of respawning begins, a small lightning strikes near you.
- PR manager Oleg Yavorsky reads Oblivion-Lost.com regularly, so they've not forgotten the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. community.
- Boxes and other objects seemed quite static, not movable. However, the physics engine was in use in regards to material penetration etc.
- Sounds were amazing, everything had its very own specific sound.
- The game crashed a few times, but it was A LOT MORE stable than the last time I played it.
- The Gamespy client was used for connecting.
- After respawning you are in a "god-mode" for about 5 seconds. During this period there's a sign over your head. There's a very cool animation when you shoot at someone who is immortal as the player has an invisible shield, but when a bullet strikes the god-like player, it shows smoke like on water - really difficult to describe :) - Every anomaly seems to need some little time to charge. You do have the possibility to sprint through them if you're quick enough.
- When you begin to play , you have some money and you can buy a gun and some armour. If after dying you still have enough money, all stuff is rebought automatically (or you can open the buying menu). On the contrary, if you do not possess any money, the buying window opens and you have to decline gun, armour, both or something else.

must see !!!!!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, at least the game really has skies figured out.

w0oT!!!!!. :D

thx d

Look at the graphics, is so fooking realistic.

Still can't wait for this title to come out. It one of the few games this year that looks interesting.

Stalker will suck

Quoted for truth.
A game promising this much...I can guarentee that most of the things will be taken out.
I mean if they can pull off the AI successfully, and not have it scripted in any way...They shall be gods.

On the contrary, STALKER has been pushed back countless times simply because they refuse to take features out. :)

Thats what they want you to think. :hmph:

The AI is pretty much already sorted apparently. So they are Gods then.

I want proof in the form of a demo. A PLAYABLE demo.
They aren't gods until I can interact with their AI or witness their AI on my own...in a playable form.

good find nik, will have a look now in a min.

edit:going very slowly, must be alot downloading it :p

I fear that this will end up pretty bad too. It just seems too ambitious. Multiplayer doesn't look all that great...Was hoping it would be a bit more realistic and not so fast. It looks like Counter Strike to me.

Everyone had the same attitude when HL2 was pushed back. Just because it's not HL2, doesn't mean it can't be great.

Well..it's been delayed 'till atleast August....expect a demo...July-ish? I would prefer them to delay it for ages, and get a perfect game, rather than get it out as soon as possible, and get a sub-standard game.

1st time i saw stalker i was like this is retarded
2nd time im like well at least it looks cool now
3rd time im like, ill probably get this since i buy everything
4th im like wow this is insane
5th and till now im like this is a must have game, looks very fun.

I don't like the way the models looks at all. It could be good, could be bad. Who knows really? It's better to have low hopes than high ones for this game though.

Just saw the thread. I haven't seen the vids yet but I do know that STALKER looks amazing. :naughty:

The thing I hate about shaky-cams is the reflection of people in the display. I miss the movie entirely, coz I keep focusing on the people.

But GSC is not Valve. Their games, in my opinion, have not been all that great.

just watched them, bloody shaky-cam, i guess this was the directx8 build?

pros:good ragdolls
very nice anomalies
gritty realistic look
nice weapon models although the ak47 looked a little to 'worn'
nice environment,sky looked great

cons:character animation still looks odd at times
doesnt look like physics are heavily implemented
couldnt hear the sounds ;( ,just people banging on in ukrainian
crosshair anyone?(can be fixed easily)

Pros : Awesome looking game

Cons: Has the potential to be like Turok, wandering around for 10-15 minutes until you find a group of enemies to kill.

the wandering around is what alot of people like about it, exploring n'all.

I signed an NDA to be in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R beta almost a year ago, I was one of few in the official beta waiting list, but the beta got delayed and i've heard nothing since. Since i'm not actually in the beta I guess that NDA expired.

I was amazed by stalker back then, but times change. It's starting to look dated already (textures look low-res close up etc) but the single player should be good. It's definately one to buy, but i'm just nowhere near as enthusiastic about it as I was this time last year.

about Turok or Stalker? Because Turok sucked.

I looks like it'll still kill my graphics card, im glad its coming out later, gives me some time to save up and upgrade.

why aren;t they showing off DX9 graphics still, we got like a couple screens and short movie, but that was it, I wanna see the true power of the engine.... now, dammit!

I'm excited for the single player aspect. I couldn't care less about MP. If they can pull off the dynamic world and the AI that goes with it, it will be worth the price of admission in my eyes. The bullet penetration model sounds cool too. Finally physics being used in an interesting way. Throw in a few RPG elements and it sounds like it should be a cool game.

Hopefully they can pull it off. I'll be watching.

I've been watching... for years.

I hardly even care about this game anymore, after all the delays.

lol
did you even care for hl2 then ?

I think it's going to be very close if not better than HL2. The model animation looks worse, but the rest is even more impressive. It's like a mix of HL2's great atmosphere and graphics with Far Cry's huge outdoor maps.

I don't see where you're coming from - Half-Life 2 is a COMPLETELY different thing in my book than STALKER. It's perfectly acceptable and understandable to have double standings based on the two different games - Stalker, I was very excited about for a while, but my excitement faded after a year or two and now I'm fairly indifferent about it, whereas my excitement for HL2 never faded, as it was constantly being rekindled due largely to this community.

Next time I'd appreciate it greatly if you asked for a bit of an explanation before saying that I make no sense.

well now you make sense

so in other words, you simply liked HL2 because it's HL2, HL1's sequel, and you don't like Stalker as much because it's Stalker, a new game

that's understandable

Thanks for understanding and not saying something stupid which would have undoubtedly caused me to explode and get warned for flaming.
