can't wait for it, its right before GT200-Nvidia next true gen card hit the market.
I dunno the rainmap looks pretty new to me in terms of when you saw it only coated half of the train carriage in rain-soaked shader, leaving the covered half totally dry. I don't think I've seen that in any other game so far.nothing new, looks meh
Guys, lets not forget that it will be delayed ATLEAST 5 years!
It'll be very outdated by then!
Why would it be delayed??
It's Stalker!
Well as I understand it, like shadows are cast on objects, based on shadow maps that are defined when creating the model (but may be altered in game dynamically), the same is true for rainmaps. In real life, if you leave something like a table half outside and half inside, as long as the rain falls straight down you'll have a half wet table. The wet half would probably look darker, and would have that sheen over it that reflects slightly. Rainmaps are probably just that, made with all models, but then dynamically altered depending on which parts of the model are 'hit' by the rain.Yeah, I didn't really get that rainmap thing. How does that work? Or better yet, what is it? I know what a shadowmap is, but if it's a rainmap, does that mean that the rain will fall the same places all the time, granted the maps aren't moved? Really confused.
Get out of here.It's Stalker!
IIRC though, the floor inside where it was raining didn't look wet, you just saw the raindrops hitting the ground, leaving no immediate effect. If that's what rainmaps are, they already had that in STALKER. Quite cool to step inside, hearing the rain fade away and seeing it only enter through holes in the roof.
DX10 is pretty much DX9, just heavily optimized. Chances are you could get it working in Dx9, but performance won't be the same. Also Bioshock has better protection against users 'hacking' DX10 into DX9, so it may actually be impossible.GreatBlackthorn said:The true question is whether these truly are DX10 features, or if we're gonna see it cracked within days to work better on DX9...
Developers: Pleeeeease focus on making it bug free. Those are very very nice graphics, and the storyline/environment/gameplay are ace (in my opinion) - just make sure it works.
Oh my god, the rain, smoke, lightning effects, and the water. Hot.
Get out of here Dutier.

To me it sort of has that Half-life 2 "Source engine" look to it
Sorry, only Radon will work.
