The DX9 plans are much more ambitious. There you will have up to 3.000.000 polygons on screen rendered in real time, totally dynamic lighting as well as soft dynamic shadows. We are using advanced shader technologies and virtual displacement mapping. One feature unseen in any other games yet is huge outdoor areas where all the lighting is processed dynamically will come with S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Snekking......hell.

Believeable. Stalker looks amazing graphically and thats from video's 8 months before release (at least). Its not so much uber graphical quality that doom3 has but more attention to detail and realism look.

Yeah, the whole foliage thing is what I like about it, I think its that making the biggest difference, I imagine there will be an option to turn it off, I bet it would look pretty naff without the really cool grass, plants, stones etc.

Ah yes good stuff.
They are using virtual displacement mapping like Tim said they are with the UE3. Supported on all DX9 cards and saves on performance over true displacement mapping.

Interesting to see this game when it comes out.

Seriously, what do they want us to buy - a nuclear powered graphic card?

Stalker is going be really demanding, as probably no one would be able to afford to have a card that could run it at an acceptable FPS, even by next year...

*Starts his own nuclear plant*
Ahh, im set.*Plus his 1,000,000 Geforce 6800's togeather using his super secret 1,000,000 gfx card connector*
Im ready!

What's the latest release date ? Last time I checked @ the local eb store, it was around december :/

Interesting game starting to interest me.

I'm somewhat afraid just how long this is going to take them to finish. Everytime I read about it they seem to b adding entire new features. Doesn't sounds like a game that is anywhere near completion.

It was announced a couple months ago that they delayed it for Q1 2005. It was originally planned for a september/october release though, dont know where EB got december from! :/
