S.T.A.L.K.E.R Endings (Obviously SPOILERS Inside!)

this is kind of offtopic but I got a problem whti stalker

when loading the level of the lab of the brain scorcher the game seens to crash and exit to windows

and hint?
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is crazy buggy, even after the latest patch (1.0003 at this time). I still love it (and play it to death), but I think we may just need to deal with it until their patch factory gets into mass production. However, I did have a couple of bugs (storyline/mission related) disappear after installing a mod that had nothing (I think) to do with storyline progression.

its no use

I skiped the entrance to the lab and decided to try to reach pripyat and sudenlly the game keep going and the objectives in the pda changed

Well the endings all make sense to me, if you just are in for a little bit of guessing. If you make a wild guess it even gets worse :D

Fact: I think it's a given that all the Wish granter Endings are Illusions. One should be save to assume that even the blind, armaggeddon and "Rule the world" ending are just illusions, with all the same outcome, of you being being simply gone/zombie/dead. The c-consciousness is merely having fun with you.

Theories sorted after likeliness, with most likely comming first.

1. All the endings are fake.
Why would C-Consciousness beam you right into a chamber where you can destroy them? ?_? So c-consciousness could've provided Strelok just with a pleasening end. The rather overly sudden idyllic situation, could be hint.

2.Only #6 is real: As it is the only situation that would fit the c-consciousnes, so they let you become part of them.

3. #6 and #7 are real: #7 perhaps sets you up for a final test, which would perhaps prove to the c-consciousness that you are worthy to destroy them and therefore ALLOW it to happen.

4. #6 and #7 are real: #7 happens totally against the will of the c-consciousness and you manage to find your way into their chamber and be able to destroy them therefore getting rid of the zone.

If you take my theory, then this game has actually no good ending in the classical way. I wouldn't be surprised about this, as it would just fit right into the game's mood. I like it as well how the game portrais the human as a rather frail and weak minded person. The whole game could be about struggling against your fate, but losing in the end :D A total oposite goal that one is used to normally... I agree with most people that endings didn't leave you with a truelly satisfied feeling. If this was intended, then they're even more genious and brave as I thought before. The message then would even be, that even all the struggle of achieving something might be futile, which contradicts to the reason that we play a computergame, as we actually want to achieve something with playing it. The game may promote therfore actually not to play a computergame and flee into an alternate (c-consciousness) reality, as it will just leave you with a non real ending and a lot of wasted time...

Well it surely was fun to think about all of this, even if it got a bit long ;)

Alright, when I installed the patches, I had innumberable problems getting the game to run for longer than 3 minutes. I got to a point where the game would inevetiablly stall everytime. I uninstalled my patches, reinstalled my game, and started playing again, taking note to block the Trader's doorway. (it gets jammed from time to time).

My game ran without bugs just fine until a few points in the game. I would begin to have the same problems. My game would crash to desktop for no reason what so ever. I took the advice from another forum about prefetching objects for the game.

If you go to your shortcut, and enter into the target line after the game's exe file, " -noprefetch ", you will likely stop a few of your crashes. Your games will load significantly faster, and you will notice a performance boost. If you need help, contact me.

IMPORTANT! I suggest you save your game constantly, and use several different saves. I noticed that when i got to a point where the game would crash, if I loaded a save PRIOR to the one I was normally loading from, the game would run fine to the point of crashing and beyond. For a quick way to save (and load) without having to go the menu, open the console ( ~ key by default):

---------
save : Quicksave's the game (under quicksave, like F6 does)
save title_of_save : Saves a game with the given title (no spaces allowed in title of save)
--
load title_of_saved_game : Loads the save game specified. NOTICE: Patched games can use the "load_last_save" command to load their last save.

I`ve had 1 and 3, they were awesome. Now I`m trying to finish the game again with some mods that make the game even better.

I love the multiple ending thing.
The first one is the best imo, just so sad and awesome.

konraden you dont put a problem for the game in a thread about stalker endings.....

How does one get to the secret lab to get ending 6 or 7? And how do I get to the "Doc" or whatever to get info about Strelok?

I got the "Humanity is corrupt" ending (I don't know how I got such a bad reputation... I didn't even kill anyone special except one Stalker because of a mission) and I don't see how I could've played the game otherwise...

The blind ending makes no sense, he asked for the zone to disappear, not to be ****ing blind, I can see how the rest of the endings are the wish granter playing with his words, but the blind one is just "LOL YOU BE BLIND NOW KTHX"
In the original RUSsian version,he says "I don't want to to see this Zone anymore" or "I want the Zone to disappear from my eyes" something like that.I think it's just a bad translation.I played this game long ago,so I don't remember the exact phrase. At least I tried to explain the meaning.

The #6 and #7 are real. The rest is a fake from the Monolith.
The #6 is the best, the #1 is the worst.
If you play the game from start to end, you'll understand the story.Just turn left on the way to Monolith. :)-)
Also I think the story has a hole. The beginning tells us about the crash and the man who sees Stalker says it's incredible for him to live, since he was in a death car.But the ending tells that these cars is a common way to spread c-consciousness agents around the Zone.Strange, isn't it?

I never figured out how to get the real endings. I only got to the point where it tells you to find the monolith.

On the way to Monolith, there is a door. You can't open it if you have no Decipherator (it must be like that I believe). To get it,you must walk through lots of quests. However, there's a physics bug:you can place your weapon at the door so it will open (see the walkthroughs - SDA for example).
There would be a real Monolith.Smash, break and destroy it.
When you're done,a strange holographic man appears and tells you all the story. You can end the game here.(#7)
If you choose not to,you appear on a 'bonus level' and must run like hell.
At the end of the level you will end the game by the sixth way.
Endings #1-#5 are lame and occur ONLY in the Monolith chamber.

Eh, I'm at Chernobyl NPP but just won't go any farther, too hard. Damn Blowout.

lol i dont even bother with the enemies except the ones at the entrance. just run. (hope you got the spark anomalies)

Thanks for your reply. One question, though: What's the SDA walkthrough? Where could I find it?

speeddemosarchive.com - speedrun archive.
The main archive has only the fastest walkthrough - with a bad ending - but the forum contains useful links.
Also it's a good idea to search youtube and Google Videos. There're plenty speedruns there.

Face the door and drop your weapon. It can stick between the wall and the door, and the door will open.
