S.T.A.L.K.E.R trailer - March, 2007

Make no mistake, this is not STALKER. It's a wee humpbacked beastie (with divergent eyes) that stopped evolving as soon as the suits stepped in and stuffed it into a cage half it's size in their secret monkey lab. The real STALKER is DNF.

Darkside was right, the reason why Samon removed the breeny avatar was because he couldn't stand looking at breen. :p

Oh yeah, Daffy Duck is muuuuchhh better.....

If you don't change the avatar back, I will kidnap your hard drive and force you to use a Shepard avatar instead, muwahhaaaa!
It could be anyone!!!! ok1?!?!
i didn't push her! she fell!

>_>
<_<

Looks shit, a few mags have given first glance fews and said it is nothing like it was going to be a while back, a lot of its interesting concepts have been taken out apparantly.

Agreed. I had a feeling that the project would be too ambitious and now it has ended up so average. Loading times, vehicles cut, no longer an open, dynamic world. I probably won't be getting it unless its less than $40 and/or gets good reviews.

jeez u ppl have no idea what u r talking about, get some facts b4 bashing the game for no reason.

the game will be complete open with dynamic world, loading time will be only one for loading the entire level huh?

besides vehicles and sleeping, nothing more was removed, even on the MP version u get items as food, med kits, and others stuffs, cuz u have 4 bars for "food, health, radiation and i forgot the other one  "

plus there is no need for vehicles, u would miss stuffs, since u need to explore the area, at night stalkers go to they base or house to rest so...

Stalker now is near to go gold, release date is set to March 2007

For those who r new or never heard about S.T.A.LK.E.R. well, in a short description, Stalker is a survival FPS shooter with RPG elements set set in a post-apocalyptic future of Chernobyl.

the links below can give you more or less the idea how the game looks and what Stalker is about, by the videos that i have seen and all the previews stuffs, it will sure be a very interesting game, the A-Life system making the NPCs living the only live and being able to follow bloodtrail, well u get the idea.

Here u can lean more about stalker: http://stalker.entermatrix.net/index.php?guide=info

Lots of Screenshots also SS from the Beta and multiplayer: http://stalker.entermatrix.net/index.php?guide=ss

There is a nice small description on the main site with images: http://stalker.entermatrix.net

I heard mandatory eating was also removed, no?

And by the way, we speak English here.

oh realy so im suri u wotn undertsand wot im saing now, becuse of my pour gramar, i tot dat the mesage is wot matter :S

and by the answer u gave me, seems like u could understand this "weird lang" that i was speaking, so if you can understand what i just said above, why the **** u have to pick on some1 because bad grammar?

it happens that english is most like my 3rd lang, so i care less about the grammar, specially when i see most ppl from countries that speak english and they still spell wrong words and since i didnt born in one of those countries, im happy with my bad grammar, cuz im still able to talk with others people that dont speak the others 3 langs i do.

and to answer your question, yes food still in.

To explain just what it will be like to inhabit this world, project lead Anton Bolshakov walked us through a live demonstration. Using admin tools to show off the A-Life simulation system, Bolshakov set up a level close to the border and populated it with a group of stalkers. In the short term, they seemed interested in finding artefacts to sell, but in the long term, these characters displayed real-life human needs. Non-playable characters automatically communicated with each other, rested, ate food, and showed basic survival needs by killing nearby enemies. In this case, enemies are the monsters that have mutated thanks to the second explosion, but stalkers also have to contend with the army that patrols the area. Somewhere in the middle are the groups of traders and bandits, who have little interest in fighting but exist to control the movement of artefacts and their value.

In total, the ambitious A-Life engine controls more than 1,000 stalkers and monsters at any one time. Inevitably, placing that number of enemies together results in frequent combat between the two sides. Humans can be seen unloading clips into the mutants and heading for cover when they run out of ammunition, while monsters will feast on the bodies of those that don't quite manage to find safe cover. Once the numbers in either camp start to dwindle, then the A-Life engine will begin to migrate characters from other areas to restore the balance. As you'd expect, such an ambitious system is one of the reasons that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has taken so long to get to market, but if GSC is able to deliver the realism promised by the demonstration then its hard work will have paid off.

And by the way, go fuk fuk your self, well im out of here.

I feel that I was responsible for that. I'm not sure whether that's good or bad.

I don't know why Thunderclap gets away with being an ass but TheSpeed gets banned for voicing an opinion.

What was the game going to be at first, and what's the difference now?

big open free enviroments with vehicles...more emphasis on rpg elements aswell as 'blow outs' which were massive enviromental disruption much like an earth quake where you had to find cover to keep yourself alive...seemless loading

now as far as i know, no vehicles, blowouts aren't a frequent random event as before, loading screens and...i think they've made it more fps intensive removing the more strategic rpg elements

correct me if i'm wrong

Those weren't really the most major differences Doppelgofer, the big difference is originally STALKER was touted as a survival-RPG, with a major emphasis on the need to sleep and eat, and thus find proper food sources and shelter, these were removed in order to make the game, as they say, 'more enjoyable'(I.e. appeal to the masses, yay.).

^ tiz true.

The entire game environment was going to be driven by a superior AI that determined the gameplay and adapted to your choices. Now it's looking to be nothing more than an average mission driven fps.

Waste.

I don't know why Thunderclap gets away with being an ass but TheSpeed gets banned for voicing an opinion.

Go fuk fuk yourself is not a valid opinion around here I'm afraid, or a mature response to something. He's banned for 4 days. Thunderclap jumped to a conclusion that TheSpeed was some l33t speaking internet kiddie with the inability to type correctly. He was wrong, and when TheSpeed is unbanned he'll apologise to him.

And that's that.

thunderclap's response was uncalled for, thespeed reacted in a pretty typical manner to elitism. he didn't say anything overly offensive imho, i would have said the same in that situation. anyway they'll be back soon.

I don't find the ability to type properly elitism. Of course, as it turned out the problem was not that he was some leet speaking kiddie. I'm sure they will both kiss and make up once they are unbanned. :p

i'm not too worried, if the game suceeds well enough despite the cut content I'm sure that there will be people modding back into the game the stuff that was removed. Then we can see first hand whether it was indeed fun or not.

As for vehicles, the reason i heard they were removed was because you would not be able to spot anomalies while driving, sicne you'd be going too fast and they are hard enough as is to spot on foot.

regardless all that stuff is very likely still all there in the code.

Those were the worst four days of my life! I have been chastened and repent my insolence. Please forgive me TheSpeed! I'm sorry! Group hug! Hmm...it seems we don't have a group hug emoticon. I've seen one, it's rather impressive. Oh well, you get what I'm saying.

Then again, you can't appreciate the whole of halflife2.net unless you're banned at least once.

Speaking of STALKER, incase anyone gives a damn, an open MP beta test has been announced for January.:)

hmmm at this stage why would they need to test the MP? we first saw it almost 2 years ago ..if it aint polished to high reflective sheen by now then they really dont know what they're going

I'll play it nonetheless

I hope its good. I actually quit paying much attention to it after they took out Co-op.

lol, it's one of the first things they removed, on another note, it's funny how they've already announced a sequel probably over a year ago, hopefully that'll have co-op if it materializes lol.

And drfreeman, http://www.oblivion-lost.net/en/index.php best STALKER fansite.:) There are the news and my source.

i don't believe them, because the will keep delaying it for the whole century!!!
