Haha it happened eb games gave it to me early lol ... anyways I'm so happy i installed the game went to settings set everything to max start the game the intro was Awsome then when i actually get into the game i see no textures no people no trees no nothing!!! All i can see is my HUD, Crosshair, mini map,skybox, and sounds I need help asap i wanna play i didnt wait for nothing. Should i change drivers??? I have the latest nvidia ones.

I'll post some screenshots to show you guys what i mean.
 
Are you sure you didn't download it, since it was leaked? ;)
 
I heard the game has problems with the 8800 series, seems like which you have right now.:(

There is a patch coming out on release day. Maybe the fix is in there.

Serves you right for buying it four days early!
 
The card is great but it seems the current drivers for it is making Stalker unplayble for a majority of the users.
 
Ew. That's no good..wonder why they didn't make the game supportive to those cards right off the bat?
 
Maybe if you pay the STALKER/nVidia team a few million, they'll fix it. No dent in your wallet.

Yup nothing works, I would advise people with 8800 series cards not to get this game untill theres a fix.

Just decided that I'm going to buy this. Hopefully if it sells well they'll be able to put in some of their other ambitious ideas in Stalker 2.

It's only ?18 from Play also :D.
 
I am running stalker in Vista 64bit with a very crappy nvidia driver and yet I have full settings in stalker @ 1280x1024...... it runs without any problems.... getting 70-90fps with one card because the driver is still in beta can't work with SLI...

Nvidia 100.65

Try this:

turn on the V-syn and reload the game.

I used to get:

V-sync off : 20fps
V-sync On : 70-90 fps :D


and my system is FX55 + 2GB memory + SLI 7800GTX
 
that vsync setting doesnt really make sense to me.....the fps would be higher then it being on would it not?

thats extacly what I thought at the begining... so I turnd it On to see whats going to happen.... booooom its 70 fps

in other games such as BF2 it runs slower... yeah i agree it depends on how the developers wrote the game maybe.


edit: the game is so sweet and soooo foooking hard to kill an enemy. :p
 
so these are just the preorders that are sent out from ebgames early? gahhh im so jealous i want to play so bad.

Whats the command to show fps?
 
Sweet just got it to work the game is Amazing the visuals are aswome aswell, Sound is just best in a game yet especially when using a headset. I just went into my nvidia control panel and turn off AA and BAM it worked, Amazing game I love it! I'll take some screenshots soon!

And yes the Ai is very smart i think its hard to kill these mofo's , they put up a good fight ! The most rewarding part is the looting its great.

I'll be back soon with some screens . :)

Because the game's been delayed for so many years, that they could care less. They just want to get it out the frickin door.

Can't wait for patch cause it runs really shitty right now for me.

Heh yeah, tell me about it, I am playing on the -HARDEST- difficulty, it's near ****ing impossible at times, such as the machine graveyard battle!
 
I just watched the gamespot review. It scored 85% but the main things bringing it down were the graphics looking a bit dated and a few bugs, both of which I could probably live with (and patch's will prob fix the bugs). They said the gameplay ranks up there with Deus Ex so I'll almost certainly pick it up.

I hope they meant the depth of skill progression and/or intelligent narrative rather than the gunplay...

There isn't skill progression in this game- except say for the items you carry around in your inventory system.

There is a lot of text reading in narrative though a lot of main characters have recorded voice. A lot of narrative is in russian (solider chatter during gun battles, or stalker sitting around telling jokes around a fire) but those add to the atmosphere.

This isn't Dues ex or System Shock 2, but if you liked both those games then there is a good chance you will like Stalker.

The game is not without it's bugs. I reccomend this review

Is it just me or did he not even mention the inventory system or anything in that review?

nope not yet ..at least not in our area ..the peeps in this thread who have the game did the whole "arrrr matey" routine ..baby jesus will smite their asses so no worries

I'm really goddamn pissed, both my EB and Bestbuy didn't have it yet :| The EB Games up near me rarely even gets PC games and when they do they get about 5 for preorders. fack them all to hell, I wont accept this kind of shens much longer D:
 
If they don't have it by tomorrow (since technically today is the ship date), yell at the manager :p
 
The in-store date has been stated as the 23rd for ages, and as friday has always been the weekday that new games are on the shelves, there is no reason to think that it will be in the shops any earlier. At least in the uk, anyway.

Until then I will continue with MTW2, ending my failed sicily campaign with a kamikazi run for jerusalem.

in canada it's always tuesdays ..and the release date was supposed to be the 20th which is the same for the US
