Sure, Sweden is a nice country.
But the whole prisoner-thingie is rather odd here, since we actully had people that come here, kill someone and go into jail, just because the prisons have higher standards then their own country.
If you live in Sweden, you might be aware of that this summer, countless people have escaped from the prisons.

So, the gov. came up with the genious plan of building a new superprison called "the Bunker" up in Boden, a small town of 20000 but with the most military activity in the whole country.
I'm just thinking, since I live here and in Kiruna, what will ever happen if say, a rescuemission ever come in action?
Since we have -40 and 1½ of snow it's very harsh climate for someone from Iraq but, they could bomb us.

I'll guess the damn "war-alarm" that they're testing first monday every month is comming handy now, isn't it? :)

Isn't that the Air Raid alarm? I remember it scaring me when I was a lad :P

Anyways, good on the prisoners I say. Nice, high standard prisons for them here in Sweden :)

You know...that is not gonna be approved. Saddam will stay in Iraq or be executed there. And there is one thing you have to know; don't trust Aftonbladet!

Once a month? I've never heard a war-alarm in my whole life. But I guess that just happens in the land of permafrost.

The air raid alarm goes off everynow and then. Used to freak me out as a kid.

I think he's more that just a blighter Varg. . . :P

No, they sound the Air Raid alarm on the first of every month everywhere in our long country ;)

Ah, air raid is what I meant.
They have them all over the city here, but then we have the extra military.

I know, never ever trust Aftonbladet, they are horrible. But it would be a pretty fun development if it actully happened.

NeLi: Nope, not so far. But it's good that it works, eh? :)

I read about that in the norwegian paper "VG". Let's hope he doesn't come to sweden. And please God, don't let the norwegian government decide that staying in Norway is even better. We've had enough trouble with the ****ing Mullah Krekar. Just send the terrorists back to their own country and get them executed. I'm tired of all their pussy-acts and bullshit.

Why can't we all just be friends? Why can't we share a pack of cookies and a glass of milk in peace and harmony? Ahh .. Living is dangerous. Nobody has survived yet..

o_o

First you say, kill them all, then you say "lets live in harmony".

God I love norwegians.

Fixed.

My hometown will get nuked. ;(

I thought Saddam was an evil dictator, not a terrorist.

He didn't have any connections to Al-waida

One would think that I've notices that...strange, are you sure that it is everywhere in country? The only fake-alarm I've ever heard was one concerning a hårdsmälta in Barsebäck. :P

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's everywhere. It's not that noticeable really, goes on for like 5 minutes tops. Maybe it's just the military cities that use them? (ie Boden, Linkoping, etc). That would explain it.

I checked it out, and it is all over the country, although I don't live in a place where I can hear it. And its only 4 times a year.

No, it's the first monday of every month.
Atleast up here. I always hear it at school.

We get the air raid signal here in Gothenburg aswell. But it's on the first monday every third month.

Maybe if you lack the air raid signal the government reckons you're not worth being warned? :p

Pffft, obviously Gothenburg is not important enough to receive regular drills ;)

/me looks at The Monkeys avatar.
Yeah, no great loss if Dalarna are carpetbombed ;)

Btw, I live right next to one of the prime bombtargets in Linkoping, Statens Försvarstekniska Institut. Thankfully the university that's right next to it can be turned into an subterrenean base and bunker in times of need :)
It's kinda cool actually, normal university on top, and then all these armoured rooms and a labyrinth of concrete corridors underground.

BWT, with so many swedes around; what's hårdsmälta called in english?

härdsmälta?
Reactor meltdown or something, I would think. You know, when a nuclear reactor goes "poof".

Or just meltdown. :)
Heck, my childhood house is in the middle of every militarybase in the city.

My parents is going down.

I find it amazing that you swedes are so good at English. Your educational system must be much better than ours. Or maybe it's genetic :)

Our language used to be closely related to english. A long time ago, of course, but still.

Here in the Netherlands they also test the sirens each first monday of the month (at 12:00)

Well, that's true for all European languages innit?

Oh, and thank you fiznut :)

You're welcome. =] Never knew an unfriendly Swede. I've talked to many online, one of which hangs out on Dalnet IRC in the #guitars channel. You're all nice folk :D I'd rather not have my country ship Saddam over there to you.

And Neli, you have one hell of an avatar.

Pffft, we dont mind Saddam. We'll have him eat meatballs and paint Dalahästar until he's a completely new, peacefull person ;) :)

Now, go translate my signature! :E

Seems like nobody understood my sense of irony in this thread. No matter how much effort is put into peacemaking in this world, there will still be those frequent crazy bastards on power trips, trying to make God crap his pants.

The moral of my previous ironic posting: We try to share a pack of cookies and talk well about the cookie-sharing, and next week we just want revenge for all the pain in the world. There will never be world peace as long as the countries and inhabitants around the world live under the current different conditions regarding religion and economy. Some of us are just lucky enough to live in a fairly rich country, and some are not as fortunate. The world is a sad place.

Not all norwegians are weird. At least I don't consider myself a weirdo. .. Now where did I leave my flying bottle of earmuffs? AH! GET AWAY FROM ME YOU EVIL RAY OF SUNLIGT!! I need a banana ..

The vikings brought a lot of tradition with them when they plundered England in the 9th and 10th century. Examples: You "house" comes from the swedish "hus", your "window" comes from the norweigan word "vindue".

And also from immigrants that came overseas to America. :)

Gertrud, nu far vi till Amerika! :p

Sure it wasn't the other way round though, with english words influencing the viking traders?
