Saddam's family fires defense team

I did not say the US government should have remained friends with Saddam, I said it was hypocritical to be friends with him in the first place! The US did not care about any deaths while Saddam was their ally, so it is hypocritical for them to suggest that is the reason they went to war now.

I'm glad we became hypocritical rather than continuing to supply weaponry (even after the UN sanctions). Which one do you prefer?

will everyone quit blaming Americans?

blame Bush and the brainless/brainwashed fools who support him...and the evil that pulls his strings...but don't blame ALL Americans..

the bush supporters I have encountered all seem to fit the same mold...not very educated, VERY (overly, IMO ) religious and just a wee bit racist..

many of them can't make up their own minds about anything..its always "Well,so-and-so said it is this way,so it must be true.."

when asked what THEY think,they typically say the same thing their hero just said on the TV/Radio..not actually thinking about it and voicing their own opinion,just re-hashing someone elses

Did you read what I wrote?

- The US government supplied Saddam with weapons.

- The US government did not care about Saddam killing people.

- Oh wait, suddenly they care, lets go to war.

I am not saying they should have remained allies. I am saying that if the US did not like saddam killing people they should not have been allies in the first place.

They were allied to Saddam as long as it suited their purposes. Once he became useless a war suited thier purposes more.

- They justified this war by saying Saddam is Evil.
- This obviously didnt bother them before, so...
- They are pretending to have beliefs or principles they do not have, therefore...
- Hypocrites!

Why do you hate the US more than the other countries that remained allies with him even after the first war and even after the sanctions? Where is that outrage? It is humourous you guys focus solely on the US without placing any other blame out there. Its pure anti-Americanism.

The reason I haven't said anything about other countries is because we have been talking about America. Of course I think it is terrible that other countries continued to support Saddam, I just dislike the way the US government justified going to war with Iraq.

And I don't hate the US. I hate the US government. I also hate the British government.

Of course. It is a great shame that the governments of the world are so self-serving and uninterested in the global picture. Hopefully one day aliens will land and unite us all, like in Star Trek. :E

But until then, the world of politics will continue to be perpetuated by people fueled by misplaced patriotism. Oh well.

How an earth do you deduce that? If I buy a coffee and its lousy, do I hate myself for buying it? No, I blame the person that made it!

The general public usually have no idea what they will get from their government until it is too late. I blame the people who are corrupt and ignorant in the government, not the people who voted. If governments told the straight truth some of the time maybe we would have a chance.

Even a can of peas has a label on it saying what you're getting. All I ask is that politicians be held up to the same standard as all the other vegetables.

I actually blame the people that voted. Those people are too stupid to think about what they are voting for until its too late. This is what happened in 04 as Bush's approval rating is now dropping to the 30s range, why these people didn't figure this out in November of 04 makes no sense to me. But as far as I know if Bush makes the world unstable for the next century or 2 I will not only blame him but I will also blame every right winger that puts positive spin on every bad thing he does, this includes the voters.
 
Well to be honest there are some pretty dumb voters out there...

I still wonder how bush managed to get a second term, let alone blair. I'm a lib dem bloke myself (or I would be if I was old enough to vote :E). God knows how long we'll be stuck with blair, at least bush has to leave sometime.
