During the hanging, one of the men was inadvertently decapitated, which further raised tensions in the country just two weeks after the spectacle surrounding the hanging of Hussein

The two defendants, in orange jumpsuits and hoods, appeared to tremble with fear in the video of the hanging shown to reporters. As Tikriti fell to the gallows, his head was taken off by the rope noose, and the body and the head fall to the floor while Bandar swings on the rope.

Iraqi government spokesman Ali Al-Dabbagh called the severing of Tikriti's head a "rare incident" and an "act of God."

a travesty of justice perpetrated by a lynch mob masquerading as the purveyors of justice put there by the occupational government who was instrumental in helping the accused carry out their crimes against humanity

thats not a good thing I supose

cuz it means that there is no peace and sectarian hate still exist right?

That's pretty nasty... haha, he must have been 'spineless'

I'm sorry.

What crimes were these men sentenced with and what was his position in Saddam's regime?

Hanging must be a horrible death. Tikriti was probably the lucky one as the severing of his head would have killed him instantaneously, the other one may have been conscious for a few seconds.

It's more evidence of Iraqi government incompotence though, they probably didn't measure his rope correctly.

Bleh, barbaric, sorry, but no matter how big the asshole, I disagree with the death penalty.

They reckon wither the rope was too long (calculations were incorrect) or that his spinal cancer weakened him.

Or the third way, which is they hung him then beheaded him violently.

Aye, my thoughts.

Indeed.

Indeed. Though I wouldn't want to be Tikriti either, because a severed head can survive about 30 seconds after severance, so I've heard.

I heard unconsciousness from decapitation is pretty much immediate.

The whole point of hanging is that your neck will break. Death is instant in 99 cases out of 100.

That's bullshit, you die in a nanosecond.

Actually many people don't break there neck and it can take up to 30mins for them to die.

yes lame ..not often that mass muderers are heads of corporations ..not since Cheney stepped down from haliburton that is
Was Cheney a mass murderer before or after he left Haliburton? Or did he come out of the womb one?

listen knghenry ..err alibiwhat'shisface if you're curious just google it

It would make sense if it was head of state/organization/country etc, not "major corporation"

All people die of the same core thing, lack of oxygen to the brain, whether that be through drowning, decapitation, hanging etc. Regardless of how fast the severance of the oxygen supply is, the brain doesn't generally shut down straight away, it takes time. To be truly killed instantly you need to be either obliterated in an explosion, or suffer extensive near instanatous head trauma such as a bullet from a high power, high calibre rifle.
