So I don't really.... do memorial threads, arguably because I don't actually have feelings, but the great JD Salinger died this afternoon.

I haven't read his other works, but Catcher in the Rye is one of my favourite books of all time. I think I've read it more times than any other, with the possible exception of Choke, by Chuck Palahniuk.

Rest in Peace. :(

Holy shit, really? D:

I absolutely loved Catcher. Jesus H Christ, he was a godamn prince. This is so sad, he was a loveable recluse :(

It's so weird to think that J.D. Salinger is actually a real person - or was. I mean, I figured he was already dead, or just never existed.

i didnt know he was still alive, but RIP none the less, catcher is one of the best books ive ever read.

Although I hated catcher (felt like I was reading someone's drunken rantings on myspace), I respect Salinger for his work. RIP, you strange, pedophilic recluse. It will be interesting to see if those manuscripts he has locked away will be published.

Yeah, I hated the book as well, but stiil if you write a book that affects so many people you have to be given credit where its due.

Rest in peace.

I hope they aren't. As much as I like him, and I'm (relatively) sure that they'd be marvelous reads, obviously he didn't want them published and I hope his wishes are honoured.
