Salvia

People I've talked to who smoked it say that they felt like they were part of whatever they touched (two people I've talked to..). Sounds pretty cool..

Take just take acid ffs...

Salvia is shit, the trip is far too short

You can prolong it to like 30-60 mins if you mix methods of taking it.

Salvia is still legal in most parts of the world (including the USA and UK) so I suppose this discussion is completely legitimate, Munro's a bit unhappy about the other drug threads though so keep it to salvia guys.

I won't touch the stuff anymore myself, and I don't particularly like it or find it to be a "good drug" in any sense of the phrase, nor would I recommend it to anyone (particularly over traditional psychedelics), but if anything it's interesting. I've tried salvia several times, with both dried leaf and fortified extract, and the best way I would describe it is: weird. In the sense of alien, uncomfortable, and frightening. The nature of the experience is fundamentally neutral, you have very little to no control over the trip (especially with extract), and the range of psychedelic effects are very characteristic (there seems to be a large number of different possible hallucinogenic effects, and each salvia trip involves a different set of them). Some of these can be quite frightening and negative (certain feelings, the idea that you're in the wrong reality, etc), most are just sort of odd and interesting, and some are amusing or exciting.

At different doses it has very different effects. My lowest dose just made me giddy and silly for a while, but I wasn't tripping in any sense of the word. Higher dose experiences are where it gets weird. My friends and I were smoking salvia out of a bong in the pre-dawn woods around a campfire once, and immediately after taking a monstrous hit, I exhaled and looked up from the bong. The effects began instantly. A very strange feeling came over me and I looked around at my friends, the campfire, and the dark trees around me. I was struck with the overwhelming belief that despite everything looking identical, I was in a completely different place than I had been prior to hitting the bong. It felt like my memory had been changed, or something, like I had been somewhere else, then was simultaneously memory-changed and teleported. I knew it wasn't true but I felt very strongly about it anyway. Not much else of consequence happened; I just felt off and had minor hallucinations.

On other trips I've had things like my legs melding into the floor (which felt quite normal but looked very strange to me), a feeling of pressure on me that feels like I'm being pulled backwards by something strong although I'm just sitting there, various strange but unremarkable hallucinations, etc. I've never done a very high dose trip because frankly I'm afraid to and I don't think it's something worth messing with.

Some strange things about salvia: it makes your voice deeper. Everyone sounds different after smoking salvia; it's kind of hilarious to hear your friend pipe up after hitting it with their voice sounding all weird. This has happened with all of my friends I've seen do salvia, and with myself as well. Another odd thing is that everyone I know who does salvia ends up disliking it eventually. This makes sense to me due to the weird nature of the experience. High doses also usually involve you forgetting that you're on drugs in the first place.

My friends have some cool stories, if I get finished with this paper I'm writing soon I'll talk about some of theirs.

The potential for a twelve hour bad acid trip is somewhat frightening. If you get a bad trip on salvia it's not going to last long.

I honestly know nothing about this drug, and you say it's legal? It sounds something that would be illegal?

A bad trip is entirely mental. It can be harrowing for a while but unless there's some serious problem (ie something bad happens to you while you're tripping) if you fight it you can get out of it and resume happy tripping. Set and setting, remember! Good ways to conquer a bad trip: start talking to someone about something random, go to a different room, put on different music, change the lighting, anything to refresh your mental state. Bad trips don't just arbitrarily happen; they're essentially your fault, and you have control over them (although that's not saying they're not extremely unpleasant and frightening and difficult to overcome).
At least it's somewhat legal.
Like that means anything. I would sooner vote to criminalize salvia than I would to criminalize use of LSD or mushrooms. Much sooner.

It was discovered only a decade or so ago, so it hasn't been made illegal yet (hasn't made big enough waves in public, although its getting there). I think it's illegal in several states by now though (not NC). Salvia divinorum is a plant native to Central America that's extremely psychoactive... required dosage of Salvinorin A is almost as low as LSD.

I'm done with the stuff. It's cool once, but it's not something I'd like to subject myself to repeatedly D:

The stuff I tried was bunk. Plus, no one had a pipe or anything to smoke it out of so the hit we got off it was sub par. I'd give it another shot though. It looks hilarious.

Hate to say it, but you all know how the other thread ended up.

Aye, let's kill this line of discussion. You're more then welcome to discuss care bears...
