WASILLA, Alaska - Sarah Palin plans to resign as governor of Alaska in a few weeks, KTUU-TV reported Friday.

nahnah nahnah nahnah nah nah goooood bye

......oh wait:

There was no immediate word as to why she will step down before the end of her first term, though some have speculated in the past that she may be interested in running for president in 2012

surely this is a sign of the apocolypse

I just got the CNN alert on my cell and my first reaction was to check this section for your thread.

I hope this means she will stay out of politics for good.

There's no way that she could get enough votes to get elected, unless Obama messes up REALLY REALLY bad, as in "Democrats destroyed" bad, which is nigh impossible given how even Bush couldn't manage to destroy the GOP, just cripple them. If Palin got elected president I shit you not I will move away from this country.

I have no faith in the american public. you people voted bush into office twice. palin is a shoe in ;(

if she left this early then she sure as hell wont win any republican votes..especially since with being a president you can't just leave when you want. sounds like she is immature and stupid

A level-headed Republican is a relatively rare thing, but nevertheless I think there may be enough around that it could seriously split the party if Palin were to run in 2012. We can but hope, anyway.

A level-headed politician in general is rare.

I really don't think she would have much of a chance of winning considering how much of an idio...oh wait, that's right...

George Bush, huh? Oops.

I'm moving to Europe if she becomes president.

I hope she runs for president and wins the primaries. That way we can be ensured another victory.

Sarah Palin. Can't even complete her term as Governor, what chance does she stand as president?

Shes one of the biggest reasons why McCain lost, theres no chance she could get enough of her own side to vote for her to even be a viable candidate.

Yeah those are my thoughts. What with the whole fear of Obama ruining the U.S. that the Republicans keep going on about, I'd say that the slightest thing Obama does wrong is gonna end up with Palin winning the Presidency in 2012.

I ****ing hope not.

I'll run for president.

And I'll still beat her.

Sarah Palin is going to be indicted by the government.

And when she is, this will be played on fox and by your regular conservative Palin followers as Obama's attempt to silence and eradicate his opponents.

Just you watch. I can predict the future.

I'm moving to Europe if she becomes president.

If she becomes president Europe is closing its borders and I'm joining HM customs and Immigration.

The republican party is dead they won't win unless Obama screws up somehow.

Google gordon brown much?

Gordon's pretty meh but he's not on Palin's level.

She belongs as a manager of Fashion Bug, not anywhere near US Government.

Good riddance.

Yeh, but my point is it's much of a muchness.

America would sink to a new low if palin was ever even considered, the average alsatian has a higher iq than her.

her and Nancy Pelosi too. she spends just as much on her wardrobe as the next bitch in Congress. I think all of our elected representatives should take a pay cut during these hard times. everyone else and their mother are. this week i'm only working 28 hrs versus my usual 40 hrs

Jesus H.C.. She hasn't got any smarter since I last subjected myself to her retarded ****ing yammering mug.

She reminds me of The Dude the way she brainfarts from sentence to sentence, with obviously regurgitated jargon. 'This governor will not stand for re-election, man - because you're... you're not privy to all this new shit, y'know? I'm just a young hockey mom, in the, uh, the parlance of our times...' etc.

I'd pay money to see a Palin vs Obama presidential debate.

****ing lol'd at about 1:00 at the ridiculously verbose basketball reference. I dug in and tried to bear the onslaught of stupidity. I made it to 5:50 before I was forced to turn it off to avoid any further mental injury. I've never heard a more annoying speaker in my life.

This. There is not a serious chance she would win if she did run. No reason for all this drama in this thread, nobody's moving anywhere.

actually having her on the MCCain ticket gave him more votes ...however it also made sensible republicans (who knew?) run to the hills and into obama's arms

No way in hell is she getting close to winning in 2012. There really is only one rational reason that she resigned, and that would be that some major scandal is about to break and she is doing damage control.

No person wanting a higher office aborts her term as governor 2 years early.

I have to agree with this. even though her handlers could be taking her out of the media spotlight and trying to retool her persona to better attract republicans; most intelligent republicans (is that an oxymoron?) ran to the democrats or independents as soon as Palin entered the race: for good reason, I cant for the life of me remember a politician who was less qualified than Palin. I mean it's obvious the ONLY reason why she was on the ticket was to appeal to women voters and hardliner conservatives

As I've understood it, prior to running for president, McCain was actually one of the more sensible republicans. Seeing as how I never heard of him before that, however, I'm taking peoples' word for it.

I used to like McCain. He used to be against the religious right and was moderate in other areas such as dealing with captured combatants. But as Stern said as soon is it came time to run for president he flip flopped on virtually everything to help him win the republican primary.

The guy has absolutely no cerdibility at this point.

^^ Pretty much

I remember at the very start of the primaries, me liking McCain. Considering voting for him even, but as the race went on, I saw him sell out so many times, and selling out for Palin was just a move that was unforgivable, and I think thats the case for a lot of people.

I saw the thread title and knew it had to be CptStern's
