Was reading through a thread just now, the Zombie Con, no less. And I realised that I kept wanting to jot things down, but not actually post them. Prepare a draft for the post, if you like. It got me considering whether it might be a possibility to save a draft in a thread which is essentially only visible to you, and is automatically in the Quick Reply/New Post textbox whenever you view the thread again. It's often handy when posting a long reply, as alsorts of things might happen, like your computer resetting, your browser crashing etc. Useful if you only know what you half want to put.

Thinking about it, however, I don't think it's too practical. Thought I might as well suggest it, anyhow.

So you're suggesting one writes their reply in Notepad before pasting into the Quick Reply? :p

No, but if you type a long post, you should probably copy/paste into notepad just in case. It's what I always do after a few instances of my long posts being eated.

But then surely that's an incentive to want this? If you're having to go to the trouble of Ctrl+C/Ving, surely it would suit your purposes to have a "Save" button directly under your post?

Edit: Alt+Shift+s apparently does Post Quick Reply... I would've thought it'd be quicker just to press Tab+Enter

I never find a reason to save a post for later. If I post something, it's for that exact moment...so if I saved a draft of anything to come back to it later, it'd be outdated. I'd rather just write up another post.

I only use notepad in case something crashes.

But why bother using Notepad if you have this feature at your disposal? It could be used for skimming through a thread and adding notes and thoughts at the bottom while you think of them.

It's simply a lot of coding work to do for something that can be easily achieved by hitting start > accessories > notepad.

Or if you have Launchy, Ctrl+Space "N..."

Damn, now I'm arguing against my own suggestion!
