Save game transfer

OK, I started playing HL2 on a friends account a while back, since I only had enough money to put source on my own account, but then the Orange Box came out and the pre-release was too good a deal to pass up, so now I have my own account with everything good on it. My question is - how do I rescue my savegames from the other account? I have tried a simple drag and drop from the savegames folder, but the saves didn't show up in the game when I opened it from my account. What do I have to do to make HL2 recognise my old saves?

Are you sure that you copied from
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\old account name\half-life 2\hl2\SAVE
to
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\your new account name\half-life 2\hl2\SAVE

They new HL2 Searches for your account name and places it in the file. Your old HL2 Doesn't do this, So the new one Thinks it is corrupted and doesn't show it ingame.

Tell me why I can launch saves sfom other account. That about writing username into save file is the most stupid theory I heard.

AciD, I'm pretty sure I double checked the directories. DireAvenger. If you think that the name is written into the save file, I suppose I could get at it with a hex editor? I only really need to recover my most recent save to keep playing...
