Damn cool and incredibly creepy movie. I liked the way that the zombies were almost completely mindless, very fast, immensly strong, and impossible to kill by anything short of massive brain trauma. Truly zombieriffic.

Oh, and that scene with the "Shoot The Zombie Celebrity" game... Classic.

Problem is... well, when I gave the dude my ticket to rip, he just said "Cinema nine, on your right...

So I went and sat down in cinema nine, and watched the previews. "This is rather dissapointing", I thought, "All these seem to be for kiddy movies and teen comedies..." (I quite like previews).

Imagine my surprise when I see the Dreamworks logo pop up, along with the opening credits of Shrek. "Damn!", I thought, looking at my ticket in the glow from the screen and seeing "Cinema Seven", clear as day. "Last time I ever listen to the punk at the front of the cinema..."

I'd thought there was something odd about how late the credits started... to cut a long story short, I missed the first 25 minutes or so of the movie (Apparently it even started early, to add insult to injury...). Could someone tell me where the zombie plague came from?

Military experiment? Deepest jungles? Meteors from space?

And what did you guys think about the film? Those "Busses of Massive Zombie Re-Death" were simply awesome... the chainsaw slot... classic...

Well i haven't seen the film but it sounds to me like you should have got your money back.

Huge fan of the original and new one. Well the beginning it's just a family living their daily life in the their neighborhood. The nurse (main character in the movie) leaves the hospital as patient is coming in like freaking out on a medical bed. She gets home, talks to her husband, they shower nekked, then a broadcast comes on (although they miss it and go to bed)...dawn rolls around and this little girl appears at the foot of the door, the guy gets out of the bed, she attacks him at his neck (very graphic scene)...then the nurse pretty much trys to get away from her dead husband. Tons of car wrecks on the street, tons of shit. Hell man you missed like the best part of the movie, the first 25 minutes rocked! You have to go see it again. Also no one ever knew what caused the plague, virus most likely from an animal or something....although the tag line is "when hell is full, the dead will walk the earth" so who knows. Some forum member here is making Dawn of the Dead mod, it's looking pretty bad ass too. Wish him the best of luck whoever it is, i forget.

Maybe "Dawn of the Dead 2" (Evening of the Dead? Midday Siesta of the Dead?), if they ever make it, will explain where it comes from. Isn't rabies a little like a sort of zombie virus? And then there's that wierd virus from PNG... the one that sent all those cannibal tribesmen mad from eating infected brain tissue...

No they wont make a dawn of the dead 2. That movie was a remake of the original, which is way better, classic. There is a rumour about George A. Romero making "Dead Reckoning" another movie in his trilogy.

It's a trilogy?

So was "Dawn of the Dead" the sequel to "Night of the Living Dead"? Or am I on the wrong track?

Night of the dead - Original
Dawn of the dead - Sequel
Day of the dead - Third one

Day of the dead is set in a military bunker were experiments are going on with the zombies. I like that one the best except the whole 'Bub' issue.

Track it down, should be pretty cheap to buy or rent now.

As far as I can remember about the film, all of the characters who committed immoral acts (according to Christianity at least) died/became zombies.

Its 'when there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth....'

:|

And the original DOTD is far superior....

dawn of the dead and 28 days later are two of the best zombie movies out imo.

although 28 days later isn't really with zombies, but anyways. sweet movies.

28 days later is amazing, but the endings sucked ass.

are they making a sequel of 28 days later ?
I dident really undestood what happened to the world after.

could someone tell me what happens in 28 days late? i wouldwatch it but im a complete wimp. i like the idea, but i dont dare watch it :p

Ok, here is 28 days later in as little words as I could describe it and as vague as I could get it.

Uhhh, some evil monkey plague strikes england and I guess the rest of the world (not the military instillations I guess) and 5 people or however many there were don't have the virus so they basically go on a trip across the UK to someplace, one old guy gets the virus, some brit soldiers come and shoot his ass up, the 3 or 4 remaining stay with the military dudes. The main char goes crazy, lets the monkey dudes loose in the facility to kill all the military dudes. They go and live on a little farm, some plane sees them and they are rescued.

THE END

Oh, spoiler warning for 28 Days Later

how awesome is the bit where the main female character (can't remember her name) gives all of the drugs to the younger girl (can't remember her name either, god i'm good) and they're running away from all the zombies and shit, and she goes "i'm having a great time" or something. heh. funny.

just turn on all of the lights if you can't handle it, it's a great movie

edit: thread successfully hijacked

Wait, who or what is "Bub"?

Which reminds me, the zombie baby was just freaky...

'Bub' is a zombie that the scientists have tamed, he salutes and learns from situations, gets upset and then shoots people.

Really bad putting him in there.

The zombie baby was the worst part of that movie, and I have to agree with [Matt] an say that the original DOTD was a lot better (though I didn't really like either). 28 Days later was a bit of a disappointment for me because I was expecting a really scary zombie movie but I ended up laughing through most of it.

Acoustic Toad:
That sounds like the Tri-Gun Squads from one of the Resident Evil books... Squads of three trained and tamed zombies that act like strike teams at one of the Umbrella Corporation labs... They're a bit slow, but they're almost impossible to take down...

What's "28 Days Later" like, exactly?

Hey, how about you all tell us your favourite zombie movies? I've only ever really seen "Dawn of the Dead", "Evil Dead 3", "Resident Evil" and that clip from Michael Jackson's "Thriller"...

28 days later is great, lots of zombies who run pretty fast, it's actually the first zombie flick where they run.

And I just saw Dawn of the Dead, I liked it, but I gotta say the boat idea was pretty stupid from the start. They had food & shelter in the mall why move?

suicide 42. 28 days later isn't that scary at all really, it bases a lot of the horror on what you 'don't see', as what you make in your mind is immensly more horrific than what they can do onscreen. The DOTD remake was a good film in it's own right, but I think many people bogged it down due to it being part of the Romero franchise, i'm sure if they'd changed some obvious aspects 'The Mall etc' and released under 'When Zombies Attack..' or something it would of been a great movie with more people saying how great it is.

Zombies and abjection are a huge topic - I actually done my uni dissertation on the subject, it got to a point where it can really mess you up, as anyone who has done a dissertation can clarify that it takes over your life, when your dealing with such a morbid topic that amount of time, it does strange things to your mentality. Thankfully, I'm over it now, anyway I've gotta go and eat some brain... ;)

I reckon that if they just barricaded themselves in the mall, and if they had enough food in there, they probably could have just outlasted the zombies, who seemed to be falling to bits anyway...
