Ok, this might sound like a strange question and it could be in the wrong place but I've been using 3dsmax lately, mostly so I can make some props for custom maps and some stuff for friends but something occured to me the other day....How do you know what kinda scale you're working on in comparison to the game? How do you know the cupboard you're making in 3dsmax is gonna be a decent size in the game?

1 unit in max is about 1 unit in hl2 engine. I think a player in HL2 is about 72 units.

ok kool do you know how big you should scale a gun that is going to be seen in 1st person view?

not quite sure how this will work for XSI but it might be possible.
decompile a v_model gun, import it to max, export it to some format which XSI can import and import it in XSI.

you could try it. else get it into max and work out the units. then use the same units in XSI because they are both 1:1 i think.

these are only ideas, dunno if they will actually work
