Scariest Games

Man I finally played Clive Barker's Undying. It seems like nobody bought that game, but it's the scariest damn thing I've ever played. My cousin's a gangbanger and he actually screamed. Anybody else played it? If so, what did you all think of it? What other good scary pc games do you know of?
 
System Shock 2 <-- Almost s**t my pants playing it. Seriously, I had to pause to check to see if i actually had.

It was done by the now defunct Looking Glass Studios.

It is a FP-RPG set aboard the first faster than light ship. The player is a Marine/Navy/PsiOps agent who wakes up to find his memory gone, everyone dead and the ship falling apart around him. Then things get bad.

The story of what happened is told by the audio crew logs of your dead shipmates scattered around the ship.

You can probably find it in a bargin bin for ~$10.

for PC? somehow whenever i read that i think of PS2... it sounds like the dual shock controller for some reason lol

I was going to buy ss2 but I heard the character animations and graphics were pretty lousy even by the standards of the time the game came out. I haven't been able to find it at Walmart. I only just found Undying attached to American McGee's Alice for 10 bucks and I was like sweetness... But Undying is a badass game I highly recommend it.

Never played it, mostly becuae it a)isnt available to buy and b)was made for windows 3.1 meaning it probably wont even run on XP.
 
its like 4 years old and screenshots dont seem that appealing. i do like the scariness factor, tho.

What "first one" were you taking about? System Shock 1 or Clive Bakers Undying?

I was talking about System Shock
 
The Olsen twins game. Saw the box. Now when you just see the box and start freaking like mad in public, THAT's scary.

Resident Evil 2 right up there too.

it runs on xp with a bit of work, i couldnt stand it though, it wasnt 3d, and the control was waaaay weird.

also yes, undying is ****ing great.

BTW, there is a mod for System Shock 2 which adds better models, its called the rebirth mod, i dont know the url offhand, but if youre worried about SS2's graphics grab the rebirth mod.

and!!! system shock 2 has co-op builtin!! how great is that??? REALLY GREAT!!

i'm sorry, i played the Doom III alpha, it doesn't come CLOSE to SS2 at all

you don't know how bad SS2 scared me, it was absolutely ****ing creepy as hell
 
I've played plenty of creepy games, but Half-life is the only on that has actually given me real fright. (Even if it's only for a few seconds when a headcrab launches out of the shadows directly towards your face.) :eek:
 
I find scary every game that has non-human oponents in it.
 
it would have to be Clive Bakers Undying, that agme made me jump...
 
They should make a system shock 3... I heard The Thing was pretty good.
 
I always thought of wolfenstain and doom as the scariest games.
Then again I played them over 7 years ago..
Then again I loved them :)

its a good game, just not in the slight bit scary, and really to enjoy it you need to watch the film, so you can say: "wow i'm where they were in the film!" and so you can see all the links with the film and its story line etc

Uhhh.... yeah..... its an alpha.....

Wait till they release a demo or somthing, then decide whether D3 will be scary or not.
 
I feel like being scared. Ima prolly try to find a system shock demo, and undying demo. I need more scary games.
 
None of you all know any scary games. None of those are anything. Because none of you all have played phantasmagoria, holy crap I had nightmares over that, oh my its about your husband sorta dude who becomes possessed and starts off real slow paced but basically it shows him murdering people, it was one of those movie type games that came out before 3d graphics took over, so it looked really real, especially for its time, I remember he straps you to a chair thing with a giant lever that makes a axe fall down and cleave your face in half, so you show him this pin thing to distract him and then pull the lever and it cuts him in the back then your running away as he turns into a demon thing cause hes possessed and hes chasing you around omfg i shit my pants. you can see him coming and you have to stab yourself and complete this ritual in time and figure out puzzles before he cought you and murdered you in a grisly fashion, second phantasmagoria wasn't nearly as scary. I have system shock 2, wasn't scary in the slighest, prolly cuz i used codes the hell out of it... When I was like 6 doom scared me, I remember fighting that giant minotaur and trying to run away from it and you want to get away so bad your arse cheeks clench together and your like AHHH RUN RUN RUN RUN FASTER!... hrmph
