scientist in pursuit of creating the world's first time machine

Just a thought - if, by travelling at lightspeed, you perceive any trip to take only "an instant" to complete, wouldn't the ship you're in effectively lock itself into near-perpetual lightspeed travel?

i.e. your trip that only took "an instant" ended up taking thirty billion years for any outside viewers.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that what relativity is all about?

JESUS!! YOU POSTED THAT FROM THE FUTURE!! Ok I believe now

This theory has been talked about countless times, and as much as it sounds good, its far from being proven.

I love how the scientist is like

"Well my dad died and so I wanted to discover time travel because I want to go back and save his life!!"

Hasn't anyone told this guy about paradoxes? If he started the research because his dad died, then he can't use it to save his dad's life because then he will stop the chain of events that started the time traveling in the first place. Paradox.

Actually that view is no longer valid. It's not as it says on cartoons where you go back in time, change something and thats changed in our time.

When we travel back in time, we're traveling to the time we wish in another universe and not ours. And when we travel back we go to another universe but everything is the same. He'll only be able to save his dad's life if he brings him forward in time along with him. Saving his life there and then won't help because of the traveling to different universes thing and he'll come back and his dad will still be dead because it didn't happen in that universe.

I'm probably talking like bollocks but im tired......need breakfast

Not valid? Says who?

Not valid? Says who?

....says Stargate :D the previous post was all that i could remember from some Stargate show talking about how we could acheive time travel and warp speed, etc.....yeah.......too much Sci-Fi

We won't know until we work out how to do it!

/EDIT This guy should go back and remove Hitler from the timestream.

Noes, then Stalin will attack and Yuri will become supreme overlord!

He who controls the past commands the future. He who commands the future... conquers the past.
