Scientists push boundry of human life

um. thats about synthetic organisms, not human lifespan, bud.

Maybe I should read the whole thing though. Really interesting stuff.

The only detraction I could imagine is creating synthetic, uncurable diseases.

Other than that all the detractors are religious and thus can be written off. Synthetic organisms are a huge field for science and technology to tackle. They're easier to manufacture than nanobots and possibly much more versatile and resiliant.

Wheee! Pet tiger with built in Desert Eagles! WHEE!

And did Man, in his folly, create Demons in the image of their gods.

Wow...amazing. There have been so many scientific/technological breakthroughs recently. I can't wait to see what the future holds.

Synthetic organisms hmm.... Striders anyone?

Pope Benedict XVI has expressed outrage at scientists who "modify the very grammar of life as planned and willed by God."

Sorry, pope. But God sucks at his job, 90% of my DNA doesn't even work for Christ's sake. And what's with the pooping? Was that really needed, God? It's really annoying and I'm sure you could have designed a better waste system.

I can't stop thinking about horror films and books that talk about this kind of thing going terribly wrong.

I want a synthetic organism that creates boobies.

/me dreams about a boobie lawn

The only reason man hasn't written one already is because we're still learning to read and write the language. Great stuff, although I expect the first few 'editions' to suck appropriately.
