Okay, I'll admit it, before I discovered Firefox I thought IE was perfectly fine...

Then I started getting SPYWARE (I want to slit the throats of the people who make it), and I decided, "Hey, what's all this hubbub about Firefox?" So I downloaded it and now...

Well, on every computer I use I download it and delete all shortcuts to IE so no one can find it except by browsing to the folder :cheese:

Anyone who wants to spread the word, check this out: http://www.spreadfirefox.com/

I'll tell you honestly, I have not gotten any spyware, adware or viruses since using Firefox and Thunderbird.

(Wow, this post sounds like advertising :( I mean it people! USE FIREFOX)

ain't THAT the truth.

5 minutes using IE on "safe" sites, such as mozilla.com or even here, and I had over 70 instances of spyware.

5 minutes!!

Now I run adaware/spybot once a month and find ~ 5 objects.

not bad IMHO. :D

I'm still undecided on the issue. I hate Internet Explorer, but I'm not sure if I like Firefox or Opera (what I've been using since I gave up on IE) more. They have mostly the same features... but I'm leaning more toward Firefox because of the extensions.

Firefox crashes, much, much more often for me. But I want to support it and make it better, so I continue using it.

Never crashes for muah.

And the best extensions:

Adblock
IE View
Sage
Tabbed Browser Preferences
GoogleBar

Tabbed browsing is amazing. Even if that was the only thing different between IE and Firefox, I would still go with Firefox. But, Firefox has so many other things it just completely trashes IE.

Extensions rock as well. I currently have a couple of other search extensions like imdb and dictionary.com. Now that is what I call useful.

Adblock is the greatest thing ever created. The first time I loaded a page and weeded every last bloated, obnoxious, animated, embedded Flash object out of it I almost wept.

Unfortunately for me, Firefox doesn't work at uni, the only sites that work are the uni's own sites :/ I have to use IE to look at anything else ;(

The only reason firefox is more "secure" is because IE has been the most popular browser, so more people looked for holes in it than on less used browsers such as firefox. Now that Firefox is beginning to become more popular, it wont be long until more and more hackers start digging into its code to find flaws, and one day it will be just as prone to spyware/adware as IE is now.

I used IE all the time, thought I was just as good with Firefox as IE, but then SubKamran turned me onto Firefox.

Never went back :D

Firefox doesn't have ActiveX. Also, firefox exploits are fixed fast once they have been discovered (within a couple of days). IE, on the other hand, exploits usually stay exploits for several months or longer. Even then most patches for IE don't fix the problem.

Anyways, Firefox doesn't even have 4% of the browser market yet.

What would you take your chances with? ;)

I'm just saying that Firefox isn't some miracle technology that thwarts all spyware/adware, it will one day be apparent that it has flaws also, just like any other software program.

Firefox is being developed continuously, IE stands pretty much still.

I really like FF so far, but I've gotta try Opera one day too.

Firefox is great. Really great :)
*Varg cuddles Firefox.
Tabbed browsing <3

/me agrees with varg.

Best browser EVER!

The progress is slow... but it's progressing... excellent!

I used to use opera exclusively, but after i had to format a while ago, and i got the latest version, it wasn't as good imo.. :(.

So, Firefox it is, now...

and why shouldn`t we spread the word about opera instead (which btw, is Mozilla+Firefox+(outlook-bugs)+irc client+rss reader+popup blocker+password storer+etcetc-IE?

Yes, at first I thought, "What's the use?" but when I can browse without seeing any f*cking "SHOOT THE MONKEY" I loved it.

After switching to firefox, it was like getting a breath of fresh air. I'm sure since it's getting more popular, flaws will be revealed, but still. It's great so far! :)

Firefox has a popup blocker, RRS etc.
Although Opera is going in a slightly different direction than Firefox.

Simple, slim and quick for Firefox while Opera is more full featured while not bulky like EI and Outlook.
All most people want is a web browser. They are both small downloads though.

For people like me who want to customize their browser insanely, I love Firefox...

I'm running Netscape as my browser even since my IE screwed up big time, losing all Java recognition and refusing to repair. Damn thing.

However, NS manages to annoy me with its infrequent communicator surveys- one popped up when I was in a Fileplanet queue. Customer satisfaction survey, and it crashed my Netscape, losing my gigantic forum post and the 72 minutes I'd been waiting in line. WAAAH!

never tried firefox, but i tested out opera for a few days and it never grew on me.. used a G5 at work and used it's built in browser, safari, which had tabbed browsing, and i don't see what the big deal is, personally. maybe i'll look at firefox.. depends on how bored i get..

What do you mean? It can be set as the default browser so it will open any links.

Microsoft has taken over so much no one really knows what a browser is anymore. :hmph:

ok.. i got real bored.. i've made the switch, i'll let you guys know how it goes.. or not.. no one cares what i have to say :|

(hl2.net seems to be working just fine so far)

edit: what happened to my cute little favicons? ;(

Made the switch today. Didnt notice too much difference. Extensions are nice and the option to have a theme is welcomed as well.
