in hammer, when u create a info_player_terrorist object, just 1, do all of the terrorists start in that area then? is it the same with counter-terrorists if they do?
 
well what if i put 2 on, there is 4 players, 2 on each team, then someone else joins?? do i just put loads of them on? like 20 in the same area?

you want 20 players, you need 20 spawn points.
 
what if i put 20 on there (10 on each team) and 21 join, would it just say that the team is full?? or what if i add 20, and 19 ppl are playing 9 on t and 10 on ct, what happens to the spare one on terrorists does that just remain empty until someone joins??

i know i must seem stupid but hey, im new and i'll learn.
 
As far as I know, if you have 20 players and 20 spawn points, a 21st person would not be able to connect, or at least not join as anything other than a spectator.

Spawn points are just points where characters are spawned, so an unused spawn point will be no different than a used spawn point. If you have 19 people the 20th spawn point will only be used when person 20 joins.
 
So it doesnt double up like in the Q3 engine?
 
typically your spawn point is touching a brush or an entity, good rule of thumb is move it around 5-10 units away from walls and a few units above the ground and 99.9% of the time it will solve this problem.
 
Thanks but I didn't have a problem with spawns, just wanted to know if the Source engine will assign two people to a spawn point if they're all taken. It does this in the Q3 engine for example.
