Ok read the other mod threads to get an idea of how to "sell" your mod.

Right now you come across as not having much there atall. People wont want to join up on something they know so little about.

that you need to buy yur gun in a store before go to the battlefield and be able to drive vehicles realistic weapon switching see what he wears like if he buys a kevlar that u see it on hes body
planning to do a "edit" skin character like in tony hawk
and lots of guns , map gives u the feeling you are in a city...

Is the mod going to have gameplay similar to GTA or are you just trying to recreate GTA on Source? I would imagine that you'd run into some copyright issues if you're trying to port GTA to Source.

Half Theft Auto (Half-Life2 Modification)

• Car’s (Can get damaged, shoot tires, break windows, break side mirrors, do a wheelie and earn money with it) min.2 max.8 people [driver included].

• Motorcycles (All kind of motorcycles, do a wheelie and earn money with it) min.1 max.2 people [driver included].

• Quad (Do a wheelie and earn money with it) min.1 max.2 people [driver included].

• Pets on the streets or neighborhoods (Cat’s, Dog’s, Bird’s, Mice’s).

• The MORE guns the SLOWER you go.

• Realistic switching between guns.

• See what he wears for example if he buys a Kevlar or AK-47 or grenade you can see it.

• If wounded the character walks slower, can jump less higher, swim slower, etc… + see the wounds.

• Big choice of guns.

• Be able to get killed by vehicles depends on how fast the vehicle drives.

• Radar like in GTA.

• Able to swim.(The MORE you care the SLOWER you swim.).

• Water in maps.

• Depends on how many players SOURCE supports per server if it supports 40 players then 40
characters will be available or need to be made 1 model per player not 2 players the same model.

• All models will look with naked arms not like in third person a long sleeve sweater.

• Able to Climb, Prone, Duck, Jump, Boost people

• Freeways and neighborhoods in the maps(That it gives u the feeling your in a city.).

• Respawn can be turned ON/OFF by server(Like Team-Fortress).

• Game play Modes: Save Hostage
Steal Object
Destroy object

• West-Coast VS East Coast.

Not to be mean but please try harder. Don't be afraid to try something new and original. It doesn't hurt to get ideas from other games but don't take completed ideas from games. If you see something you like try to expand on that. Can I ask how long the process was to come up with this mod idea? I am curious.

I am not saying it's a horrible idea for a mod but try to take it farther. One thing I suggest you do asap is get a website up. Then you could atleast post info about the mod and get crits and comments. It's your job to get a team going don't exopect them to come to you. I'd say the hardest part of making a mod is getting people to follow you and your ideas. You have to be a salesman. If you go to a car dealership the salesman doesn't just go "Oh the car is grey and it costs $20,000. Sign your name here and it's yours." Most importantly have and show confidence in you and your ideas.

Well atleast the fact that it's not a WW2 mod makes me a little happier.

At least call it something other than Half Theft Auto, it sounds like a joke, or a terrible rip-off. If you want people to see it's different from GTA, then don't call it the same name.

Why not just mod the actual Grand Theft Auto?
80% of your work would be done just by picking up a copy at the store.

Better yet, just wait for the next GTA to come out.

Even if this isn't a joke, you'll probably need good luck to avoid the stigma of being pretty ripoff-ish.

3rd)write a MUCH better post in NOTEPAD, then read through it and rewrite

4th) ask for this thread to be deleted

5th)REPOST the proper thread where you've got alot of info on the mod, what you want to do, what you need to do it.

6th) change the name
