The latest Sacramento resident to be questioned by federal agents in possible threats against President Bush is a 14-year-old girl with a heart on her backpack and braces on her teeth, a freckle-nosed adolescent who is passionate about liberal politics and cute movie stars.

Her name is Julia Wilson, and she learned a vivid civics lesson Wednesday when two Secret Service agents pulled her out of biology class at McClatchy High School to ask about comments and images she posted on MySpace.

Beneath the words "Kill Bush," Julia posted a cartoonish photo-collage of a knife stabbing the hand of the president. It was one of a few images Julia said she used to decorate an anti-Bush Web page she moderated on MySpace, the social networking Web site that is hugely popular among teenagers.

screw the star spangled banner ..they need to change it to the Imperial March

the star spangled banner IS the imperial march......:borg:

Stern, you will eat your words when she becomes the second coming of Hitler and executes Bush, seizes power and puts Cheney's plans for world domination into action.

meh...the same people say that BF2 is a Terrorist Simulator^^

It was a pretty idiotic comment, even for a 14-year-old.

Sending the Secret Service after her, especially during the school day, though? Equally idiotic. Just send the bitch a letter or an email.

wtf is wrong with them that they actually believe that a 14 yr old girl could pose a legitimate threat??

Age has nothing to do with it. She's a girl.

They should rename it to secret stupid. Cus' the stupid part ain't secret any more.

KILL BUSH.

Anyway, I agree that saying that is stupid (there are far more effective ways of getting your point across, and an assassination would undoubtedly backfire to the greatest degree possible) but it's really quite absurd that the Secret Service is taking this seriously. Yay for freedom of speech :/

KILL BILL!
it's really quite absurd that the Secret Service is taking this seriously. Yay for freedom of speech :/
Indeed. If they take this seriously, I wonder how serious they'll take it if I spammed "LOL DIE" on the White House forums.

To be fair to the secret service they should be investigating web pages warranting the killing of Bush, it's thier job.

Everyone put Kill-Bush in their sigs. The amount of hits of webpages with "Kill Bush" should force the internet to close down entirely.

If that were an arab man, WITH A BEARD, that's a one way trip to Guantanamo where you get the shit beaten out of by those ****ing assholes, United States Marine Corp soldiers.

Kill Bush.
Nuclear Washington.
Nuclear California.
Sarin New York.
Nerve gas New York.
Allah. Haha!

Spy agencies will be going insane now. Red lights blinking setting off alarms.

ARREST MR-FUSION POST-HASTE.

Oh yeah and Kill Bush.

Retard. There are no freedoms of speech in America, FOOL! The Establishment IS FREEDOM!

One of the amendments has something to say about it, i think...

She is obviously teh 14 year old antichrist, my friends! Come, let us purge the world of all that defiles the good name of Bush!

I agree, it is their duty to keep the president safe, regardless of what the people think. But seeing as how everyone here hates Bush, don't worry, he will be out of office soon enough.

Anyone, reguardless of age, can be indoctrinated with the harming or murdering of people either behind some form of motivation or none at all. Sometimes they are even used to instigate or act out the idealology, or to "protect" it. This was recorded in Palestine, where Gunmen from Hamas were sneaking alleyway from alleyway, grabbing and throwing children out in front of them while manuevering against Israeli snipers. Of that movement, you can visit www.pmw.org.il as to how it motivates its youth to prepare for Shahid.

Young Children Convinced of Death as a Shahid as Ideal
Two 11-year-old girls articulate their personal goal to become shahids [people who die for Allah], explaining that "all Palestinian children" see Shahada [death for Allah] - because of its promised grand Afterlife - as more worthwhile than living.

Head of Palestinian children's org: "We Teach Children Shahada"
In English, PA leaders have denied that they encourage their children to aspire to Shahada [death for Allah]. However in Arabic, the PA continues to express pride in educating children to aspire to Shahada, portraying it as a national achievement. The Director of the Palestinian Children's Aid Association candidly reiterated this PA educational policy, on PA TV.

PA TV "Historical" series: Year 1956: 12-year-old boy reads essay he wrote
A fictional show on Palestinian Authority Television reinforced the message to children that violence is the best way to resolve conflict, and that Shahada [death for Allah] is a goal to be pursued.

PA Child: "Daddy bought me a machine gun and a rifle"
Promoting violence and terror among children through video clips and other children's programming has long been a prominent component of Palestinian Authority Television. This week a young girl was asked to recite a poem on PA TV. The poem is the recounting of a present received from daddy; "a machine gun and rifle."

Talking Chick Promotes Massacre with AK-47
On a children's program discussing the importance of trees, "Tarabisho - the Talking Chick" - was the center of the discussion. The child moderator asked Tarabisho what he would do if someone, specifically a "little boy," were to chop down his tree. In his squeaky little voice, Tarabisho answered: "I'll fight him and make a big riot, I'll call the whole world and make a riot. I'll bring AK-47s [assault rifles] and the whole world, I'll commit a massacre in front of the house".

Rather than use this opportunity to teach children the value of peaceful communication and negotiation - peace education in other words - the Palestinian Authority instead aired a message that promoted violence as a way to solve problems.

PA Children Taught to be Combatants - Visual Messages
In the very same week that the Palestinian Journalists Union "banned journalists from photographing Palestinian children carrying weapons ... [because] the pictures harm the Palestinian cause" [AP, August 26, 2002], PA TV interviewed a child in his home - and for the purpose of the interview - he held a Kalashnikov automatic rifle. The media regularly shows pictures of children with weapons.

Or of those in Africa, who either fight or are dismembered? What of their images? It required either a death threat or offer of good food for them to fight.
Based on the information contained in this report, the Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers believes that more than 120,000 children under 18 years of age are currently participating in armed conflicts across Africa. Some of these children are no more than 7 or 8 years of age. The countries most affected by this problem are: Algeria, Angola, Burundi, Congo-Brazzaville, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Sudan and Uganda. Furthermore, Ethiopian government forces engaged in an armed conflict against Eritrea, and the clans in Somalia, have both included an unknown, though probably not substantial, number of under-18s in their ranks. In internal armed conflicts in the Comoros, Guinea-Bissau, and Senegal, on the other hand, there has been little or no recorded use of under-18s by government or armed opposition forces, and there are almost certainly no under-15s participating in hostilities in these three situations.1

The risks to children of participation in armed conflict

In addition to the obvious risks to children of participation in armed conflict — which apply equally to adults — children are often at an added disadvantage as combatants. Their immaturity may lead them to take excessive risks — according to one rebel commander in the Democratic Republic of Congo, "[children] make good fighters because they’re young and want to show off. They think it’s all a game, so they’re fearless." Moreover, and as a result of being widely perceived to be dispensable commodities, they tend to receive little or no training before being thrust into the front line. Reports from Burundi and Congo-Brazzaville suggest that they are often massacred in combat as a result.

Children may begin participating in conflict from as young as the age of seven. Some start as porters (carrying food or ammunition) or messengers, others as spies. One rebel commander declared that: "They’re very good at getting information. You can send them across enemy lines and nobody suspects them [because] they’re so young." And as soon as they are strong enough to handle an assault rifle or a semi-automatic weapon (normally at 10 years of age), children are used as soldiers. One former child soldier from Burundi stated that: "We spent sleepless nights watching for the enemy. My first role was to carry a torch for grown-up rebels. Later I was shown how to use hand grenades. Barely within a month or so, I was carrying an AK-47 rifle or even a G3."

The fate of the modern child soldier is particularlygrim. In the last 20 years, new technology hasprovided weapons which weigh less than 7lbs.,cost about 6 dollars each, and can be stripped, reassembled, loaded, and fired by a child the ageof 10. Traditionally, child soldiers had lessthreatening roles in combat, often helping to cookfor soldiers or serving as messengers. Today, themajority of child soldiers are used as cannonfodder, forced to be frontline soldiers, or made toclear minefields. An important study conductedby the Henry Dunant Institute in 1998 indicatesthe most popular method used by military forcesto prevent children from deserting is to take themback to their home villages and force them to killone of their relations, thereby ostracizing the childpermanently from its home and family. In additionto force and intimidation- beatings, torture and rape are common experiences of boy and girl child soldiers

Can we consider "Gunmen", namely those responsible for Columbine or other school shootings, as youth militancy for an American counterpart to those in Africa, the Middle East, Europe, or Asia?

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/nation/4247208.html

JOPLIN, Mo. — Fascinated by the Columbine bloodbath, a 13-year-old boy in a dark green trenchcoat and mask carried an assault rifle into his school Monday, pointed it at students and fired a shot into a ceiling before the weapon jammed, authorities said. No one was hurt.

You cannot say that because of her sex, youth, or political libel that she is immune from those out there who would manipulate her behind political motivations that would intend on either harming her or other people. Further, these gunmen accross the globe will even "choose" to do what they do.

Whose to say that she chose those words because perhaps she thought she understood them?

My point is: You cannot strictly say to those images and videos that is through all measures impossible for a girl at her age to conceive or even actively participate in either war or the support for the killing of anyone person, group, political entity, country and its people.

Words like "Kill x, or kill y" stand much more strongly then you can even know and reguardless of strength, children will listen. "Oh, don't like becky. She's black, and a ******." "Stephens just a jew. Thats why he's stupid." "That white guy, ralph. ****ing gay ass bitch we should beat him up after school." It's subjective and children wether you realize it or not will learn to adopt and embrace this behavior. Hitler used the same motivation and close to a million German Youth marched in its services during World War II, under the Hitlerjugend. The children were even asked to prove their worth not just through competitions but rape, theft, fights amungst members, and even murder. For older adults who led magnificient careers before the war as Lawyers, Doctors, Teachers, and Engineers were too, guiled into becoming a part of the Shutzestaffeln.

So who is anyone to forget for that matter their own inclinations or those of they're friends? You can't know until you either see or hear it. And you heard it from someone, they say.

Sure, saying to kill someone is very different from acting it out -- but where does it start, and where does it stop? She may have very well wanted to kill him and either way, as someone else put it here:
To be fair to the secret service they should be investigating web pages warranting the killing of Bush, it's thier job.

Thats something some of you should check into.

Gotta side with Kerberos on this.

Personally, I think it takes more than "Kill ____" to warrant an investigation. But you would have to be incredibly naive to think young children cannot be indoctrinated/manipulated into committing horrible acts.

Keep in mind that I am not advocating self-censorship, and I think that this was unwarranted. But I tire of hearing people say "lol amg wtf is a 14 yr old gonna do?!?!". You do realize that not every suicide bomber is 18 or over, right?

yes, clearly such a picture is a clear indication that it was only a matter of time before she turned into a cold blooded murderous child soldier, and killed the president

[edit] and the point wasnt her age, it was the fact that she was clearly a normal schoolgirl, and not some brainwashed child soldier from a war torn 3rd world country.

Uhh... no.

This is an investigation (an unwarranted one, which I admit). Not a conviction or codemnation.

Frankly, all this does is make me wish people would teach their children to be less stupid with their words.

I can see it now "The terrrorist cell was discovered when the group posted a blog outlining their intentions on their myspace site"

Words are something a girl like her needs to provide the nessecary motivation and mindset, my friend; because a portion of child soldiers and young teenager middle school/highschool gunmen are also understood to be of that position by choice.

You still can't say in spite of Columbine, in spite of whats going on in Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Russia and Asia that the spirit of children becoming reckless does not have a source -- if violence is all we teach them, if violence is all we allow without it being properly addressed, then violence will be abused because it is not understood.

If a 13 year old boy can shoot up his school, whats to say that a girl of the same age would'nt be capable of it? The Secret Service is investigating this and with good reason. We don't know who was participating on this forum of hers, what they discussed, or moreover, what this girl has said. I've seen child soldiers most of my life and the people that aspire to become them.

One matter is most exclusively clear: That pattern is defiance and will to hurt or kill others, or organize the efforts of those who would want to over those that don't instead. You cannot call the efforts of making and maintaining "Kill Bush" webforum a sound or rationale thought at this point.

A 13 or 14 year old should be made to know better, and understand it themselves personally.

I can see it now "The terrrorist cell was discovered when the group posted a blog outlining their intentions on their myspace site"

Your harping this like it almost attacks you -- www.stormfront.org

If the Ku Klux Klan can organize attacks against "******s and the lesser to the master race", whats to say someone out there was'nt manipulating her or her efforts in the process?

"Killing anyone" political mantra, for which ever matter it belongs to or is aimed at, happens to be sick and ill-rationale. Then for a child to organize this? You've got to be kidding. They're has got to be a much more healthier form of political expression available for this girl and our youth, at least to be understood. Or else without it she and many others will become a product of they're own fundemental lack of understanding. She obviously has no respect for what the word "kill" means lest she would've found a better way to make her political whoaings into a conveyence less threatening.

And I'm warning you: Your not defending freedom of speech when you think your standing up for this girls own immaturity, what your defending is a lack of good parenting which is'int sound in its own right. Which would've been for her own good, too. But because none of these things existed it is now her charge; and she's brought something down on herself I'm sure she understands even less of then killing. Someone needs to give this girl a talking to, and whats worse, a school system as vunerable as columbine was to a shooting would even encourage such a forum, or would relate the knowledge that it knew students were participating in this forum?

Oi vei! The System. Is down.

you seem to have misunderstood the article. this wasnt a girl that made and maintained a website dedicated to "kill bush" it was a normal 14 year old with a normal myspace page, that happened to have an image of "a cartoonish photo-collage of a knife stabbing the hand of the president." with the words "kill bush" above it.

Not only where they're more images then just one, as provided by the source above, it was also a social networking web site were people could post comments or participate in social discussion, reminiscient or exactly of a discussion forum.

Social networking also suggests a discussions forum or an ability to share ideas, she not only moderated the website, but it was also hers. I'm familiar with myspace. You can manage a blog, post comments, and even have discussion forums.

"a cartoonish photo-collage of a knife stabbing the hand of the president."

Was she trying to encourage a movement? She really, needed a review of her actions.

anti-bush not kill bush. i honestly think you're just treating this far more seriously than theres any reason to.

While due cautioned, I think you should respect what my reaction is. I'm upset; she's never thought about an outcome to her actions or what the word "killing" truely means. She appears indiscriminate and appaulingly immature and yet her behavior is unmonitored or virtually ignored. I think infact my first post would've been more appropriate for her to read and understand then anyone of you here, but I express those things to show people that anyone, reguardless of background, age, sex, or nationality can become anyone of those soldiers or militants.

Yes, with or without, a motivation other then sometimes you can.

She's negligent and apathetic -- that she would take on her own political movement instigating or providing shelter for those who would prepare to do harm, either to her or other people, without a sharp thought on what war is. I applaud her attempted "foot in the door", with reguards to her attempt at politics but it just was'nt a healthy thought or approach.

Of those before her who've made the same mistakes? She, and they need, an education, not an arrest.

screw the star spangled banner ..they need to change it to the Imperial March

The 'just kidding' factor to saying you want to kill someone does have its limits, especially given this girls track record.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution

The First Amendment also states that while Freedom of Speech is law, so to is it law that the government can protect its public or itself from threats that are, "Clear and Present Dangers".

The Secret Service reacting to this was nessecary and allowable by law, aswell as they're duty. It is also been stated by our laws;
Vinson suggested that the doctrine did not require the government to "wait until the putsch is about to be executed, the plans have been laid and the signal is awaited", thereby broadly defining the words "clear and present danger".

Given the worlds modern environment and what was written, the government is not obligated to wait until dangers are on the verge of commiting atrocities. But such things, if unconstitutional, will always be questioned.

yes, clearly such a picture is a clear indication that it was only a matter of time before she turned into a cold blooded murderous child soldier, and killed the president

[edit] and the point wasnt her age, it was the fact that she was clearly a normal schoolgirl, and not some brainwashed child soldier from a war torn 3rd world country.

There are no normal schoolgirls in life.... Besides, all child soldiers were normal school boys or girls until they turned into one.

I demand Hell March!

Definantly. I'd like to see a parade based all around Hell March, especially if the organisers had no idea where the music was from. That'd be sweet. Especially if it was in DC.
