The Sonic cycle is broken. A couple months ago I did a preview for Sonic Unleashed, and while I couldn't say anything bad about it I was worried that it was going to fall prey to the cycle. It looked good, but this was a next-gen Sonic game we were talking about.
Everything is forgiven. Sonic Unleashed is AWESOME. It's fast, it's beautiful, and the Werehog levels are like Ristar. Yeah, you remember Ristar. It's THAT awesome.
There's a difference between the Wii/PS2 version and the 360/PS3 version; there's more Werehog levels in the former, but the levels have great designs. The running parts even have branching pathways. There's more platforming in the 360/PS3 version, and it looks a little better. That version also has PLAYABLE TAILS. Everybody wins in this one. There is no "worse" version. PS3 gamers have to wait until December 12 though, which is a downer, but the Wii and 360 versions are out now.
Also, semi-related to the game, Sega decides they're Pixar and released THIS:
Night of the Werehog
It has nothing to do with the game aside from having Werehog Sonic in it, but I cannot describe to you how ridiculously good it is. It's just a fun little short. Ghost Girl is the greatest Sega character since forever. Here is a ridiculously high quality 1.5GB version.
