Hell, there's a character thread, a screenshot thread -- why not a video thread?

I put together a little teaser of the battle arena for those who don't have it yet. This shows off combat and few weapons. I particularly like they way they did the combat with the burriness and such. Well, you'll see.

http://files.filefront.com/Oblivion____Arena/;4905666;;/fileinfo.html

Running time: 2 minutes.
File Size: 23MB

I'll also record requests from those who don't have it.

This game is to addicting i spent 4 hours in a undergrownd dungeon killing monsters and taking there gold. Lots of fun very immersive.

please please please, more character creation vids (excellent one from before Amish, thank you)

and something showing the diff armors... much love :D
I would buy it, but I need moola atm.

I bought it but I am taking it back. The minimum requirements are not truly the minimum. You need to at least fill recommended to run it on low settings. I learned this lesson the hard way. Need to get me an uber comp. For those who have one and can play Oblivion, I envy you so much.

I barely meet the recommended and I'm running the game on highest details (minus canopy shadows & grass shadows) - HDR on so no AA in 1280x1024.

I was gonna do more vids today but I guess I didnt have fraps running when I was playing so me pressing F11 in fact wasn't doing anything :(

I'll post some stuff tomorrow though. I'll try and get a hold of some cool armor again (I just sold some really cool dwarven stuff I don't wanna use because it's heavy).

Just hit level 11 though, so far I've shut down 4 portals I think, maybe 5. According to one of the tooltips there's 16 total. I've hardly even done any of the main quest :p

I'm grand champion of the arena and I'm working my way up the fighters guild. Paid 5k for a nice black horse (fastest in the game). I was wondering if there's a way to name it though. It seems silly that it's called, "My Black Horse"

There are tons of dungeons in this game :p Over like 200 right? I've gone through about a dozen of them or so.

Nice little video qonfused

:)

May i ask what settings you were running the game at when you took that video ? You have an athlon 64, 2Gb and a 7800GT if i remember correctly ?

keep 'em coming peeps! :)

the combat really looks alot more involving and the AI seems to be rather clever(in the arena atleast) I wanna see a video that showcases how the AI do against ranged attacks...especially if you manage to get into "out of reach" locations...hmmm POST and ye shall be rewarded!

omg I keep watching qonfused video over and over again...

I really like the impact of the orc's first charge attack...it's awesome!

is it me or did they boost the run speed in oblivion a whole lot compared to Morrowind?

A64 3500+ (64bit 2.2GHz)
2GB PC3200
7800GT

Setting are all maxed (sliders, settings, etc.), 2x AA @ 1280x1024.

Cool

:)

It appeared to be running nice and smoothly in that vid. Been hearing a lot of people are having trouble with performance, even those with 7900GTX's !!!

I shall have to reserve judgement for when my copy arrives and i have seen how it runs on my system.

Got another vid coming that I just took. I'm converting it right now and I'll begin the upload as soon as it finishes. It's a long one again so it'll be a while.

It's me going through an entire dungeon looking for a journal. There's a break in the middle because I went afk a bit to answer the door and I waited (ingame) when I came back.

Nothing crazy, just more footage.

Btw, you'll see I repaired my sword and stuff at the end. The reason that big fight took so damn long was because it only had 3 hp left. It's normally an 11 dmg sword and I bet it was doing like 2 when it was that low. That and I had like no fatigue left so my swings were doing less dmg (which is why I was walking through part of the fight - gain fatigue back faster).

Also, those damn zombies can be pretty annoying. They leech hp when they hit so I avoided their swings rather than just blocked.

There's a slight delay between being able to block and swing (vice versa as well) so it's hard to block and counter versus 3 enemies at once. (There's one arena fight in particular that SUCKS because of that).

You'll also notice that I disarmed that bowman skeleton. When I do a sideways power attack (since my blade skill is in the journeyman range) it has a chance to disarm.

I bumped my res up to 1280x1024 since last videos so I get a bit of slowdown when I take videos in fraps. Normally indoor areas are smooth as silk otherwise.

Just watched your first video amish. Looked like it was running quite nicely on your rig. Not to mention the fact the game looks gorgeous. Just wish i was in the US so i had my copy now !!!!

:(

What are your goddamn specs, instead of whining about it, tell us, so someone else will know.

Tis in another thread.

I just took a quick movie of horseback riding, one of the most relaxing events in the game. Every so often when you're caught up in everything, just take a stroll in the woods with your horse. Oblivion is such a beautifully rendered game. It's really a shame if you don't enjoy it.

Running time: ..... 1:06
File Size: ............ 18 MB

It's compressed quite a bit, so scale it down a little bit to increase the quality/detail.

Dumb Dude asked me to upload this video for him of his noob lock picking skills. Nice, quick, small and quality video though.

Running time: ... 30 seconds
File Size: .......... 6 MB

Also, to anyone who doesn't have the game yet: would you be interested in a high quality video showcasing your request? I'm thinking like 640x420 at around 60MB.

Still uploading. It seems I had a video of the same name in my directory so it canceled the upload.

<.<

I'm thinking some mad 1080i quality video at 6gb would be a lot nicer.

And yes, I have noob lock picking skills. I was pressed for time with the free version of fraps and all.

I've got an upcompressed FRAPS file here on Oblivion for 10 minutes straight sitting here. 11GB? KK. Uploading.

Dumb Dude's video uploaded.

Comments would be nice (not much of a video, but comments still welcome).

Sorry for the huge delay. Got called into work before the vids finished compressing. Uploading them now. It's split into 2 vids (the first is only like 3+ min long but the second is 8+). I didn't wanna waste the time joining them together so tough luck.

Wtf is wrong with filefront... I keep getting errors when I try to upload to them.

Errr, looks like it's a database problem with their end. Uploading is down for maintenance.

Time to hunt for another place.

EDIT: Ok, upping to zippyvideos now. Sorry guys :p

EDIT2: OH WTF. Something is out to get me here. Now zippyvideos is saying my file is too large when it specifically says RIGHT BELOW the upload box that 100MB videos are allowed and it shows my vid size is 22.5MB. Trying again.

EDIT3: Jesus christ. These videos may forever sit on my HD until I can find a decent host that doesn't spout bullshit when I try to upload.

I can't get any of the videos off of filefront yet :( they seem to have taken the free public servers down for maintenence or something, + I'm ordering my copy tonight now it's been released over here, should have it by Monday/Tuesday ;)

** Heres to hoping it runs and looks good on me system :p **

eh ... :| ... i'm not it's just i know oblivion is a very demanding game even for my specs lol :p

I have a 6 minute video I took, of a series of battles with goblins, one being a very intense battle with about a dozen or more goblins in the same area. On my PC with high texture settings(though without bloom or HDR or antialiasing), all these critters at once with very little noticable slowdown.

The battle is intense, and i'd love to upload it... but I don't know how to shrink it down into adequate side. :( Its 2 gigs after coming out of fraps.

Qonfused, help me! I have vegas, but I don't know the best way to shrink a 6 minute video down to size.

Easy. Just use Windows Movie Maker. That's one of the programs that comes with Windows XP. It's very good in keeping the size of the file small, while the quality is still OK. Check out this vid. It's made with Movie Maker.

Please tell me the exact settings you used in movie maker... that image quality is amazing!

EDIT: Well obviously you can have higher image quality than me, at that filesize, because its 20 seconds compared to 6 minutes. But would making the video like, 40mb be too much for you guys? I figure you all have broadband, I would just like the quality to be pretty damn good for viewing, instead of some blurry shit, since its 6 minutes long... its to be enjoyed!

EDIT 2: http://files.filefront.com/Shartugwmv/;4935530;;/fileinfo.html

I'm dissapointed with the image quality. I need people to tell me how I can improve it, and not have such a huge filesize too. hehe. It was made using movie maker.
