Senior Project

For my school we have to do a Senior Project which is we pick a career we're interested it and either job shadow someone who has been in that career for 5 years, or do a project. And I want to do a project, and the career I want it to be is in video games. So I was thinking on doing like a mini mod or something and asking a video game company (still trying to find a good one) to help me out. I wanted to do Valve, but they're not in California =/. Anywho, I wanted to find a company that used some kind of engine, like Unreal Engine, or ect. And I wanted to know, if anyone can help me, are certain game engines licensed to their owners? Or is it like, for example, I go ask someone and do the project. And ask them if I could do something on another companies engine, but they used that engine before.

I think that Valve still have one studio in Irvine, California (former Turtle Rock) but I don't think they could help you with engine stuff...

Wait, so even though Valve bought Turtle Rock, they're still functioning? 'Cause I saw that, but then I saw that it was defunct. So I was just like "Oh, it's probably not even in Irvine anymore"

Haha, good luck with making a mod in the time span you're given.

I never had to do a project because I was in AP Literature- all I had to do was a slide show. Unless you've actually done something like this before, don't even bother.

Well I don't want to make a big huge thing. Probably like a one level thing. I just have to work on it for 15 hours

I was a mentor for two high school students while I worked in a butcher shop. They learned to take down a side of beef. I think the program was still pretty new back then - it seemed kinda weird.

Yeah, that's pretty much what we need to do, find an advisor or mentor. We're the only school in our district that does this. It's really not that dumb if you think about it, 'cause you get to learn about what you want to do in the future. And it's a graduation requirement
