Aside from the benchmark program and the rest of the Bink videos, what other media do you think Valve will release before the 30th? If screenshots, new or ones taken from stills from the vids? Making-of vids, official audio/video interviews? I sure hope all of the above, cause I can never get enough Half-Life 2 media. Sure, I'd rather just play the damn thing instead of salivating over screenshots or Gabe's voice, but its still something! Thoughts, comments, contributions? Flames perhaps?

Don't know, don't care. The full game is enough for me. ;)

From the looks of it, not a whole hell of a lot. Sounds like we might have to wait until Steam is rereleased, by that time and after the other e3 vids are released, should be about HL2 time. That or they'll be a rush of stuff in the last two weeks and hopefully everything you mentioned. Playable demo is no doubt not even a possibility though.

i predict that i will be the 1st people in the USA with a retail copy from EB! not.

there. I'm too lazy to think up a text flame.

Whats the deal with Steam? Why do they need to re-release it? I have it running right now in the background. Seems to be working fine.

they're not rereleasing, they're moving out of beta.

They are simply making people pay for it .. I just hate steam. I can't help it. Didn't valve say that they don't want to give much more information about the game ? That buyers will have to explore it first. I just hope they'll be able to control steam this time and that it's bugfree. I know it's a lot to hope for :p

WHy do the people even need steam,, some programs i have warcraft 3 updates automatically. I dont see a reason to download a program for updates and other useless things when i can get them from other sites. (do you have to pay for steam?)

Steam is free but you can use it to purchase software which will cost money. It can also scan the files you have and send you just the files you need for your set up, so you will only get the right files for your setup and save on space. Also with the scanning of files it should be able to help prevent cheating in games. It also comes with a built in server browser/game launcher/chat and buddy location system.

It's quite a nifty bit of kit really once it's bug free.

They have stated that what was shown at E3 is pretty much IT! They want the rest to be a surprise. I know I want to still have that WOW factor when I buy it. If I have seen a step by step, scene by scene movie of the entire game, it will loose it's luster.

I love pie.

I just don't want suprises like "SUPRISE, you need to pay $.003/minute to play HL2-Online"

I wouldn't imagine Valve doing somthing that drastic but Steam seems very capable of doing somthing exactly like that, or even worse depending on how demented an imagination you have.

Edit: where did my sig go?

Other than the benchmark, I'm really not bothered to the point where I'd rather they didn't release anything new.

They aren't going to charge you to play MP. But, there will be the option of RENTING HL2 through steam for a week, a month, or a year and stuff. You will also be able to buy a copy through steam. They will NOT however charge you to play if you own a copy outright. The servers will be maintained by the community like EVERY game on the market, with the obvious acception being MMORPGs.

/rant off
