I would go nuts if I had to wait for a few days 
. But I think Steam will be allright, maybe a few error messages of insufficient bandwith available but if you keep trying you have a good chance of coming through. Maybe Valve has build a waiting line system in Steam, so it's it's first-come, first-served (like Fileplanet). I prefer to see I have to wait an hour than trying to get through and see nothing but error messages all the time.
