Seriously now!

I have had it. i just bought the "Half life 2 game of the year edition", and last night i downloaded hl2 and now when i go into steam it says for cs:s, hl:2 and half:life source that the pre-load is complete. wth. i double click to launch and instead of launch it says purchase, and i bought the games! when i bought portal it worked fine with a few low risk glitches, but i want to know is half life 2 episode pack causing it. Deathmatch was already a part of steam from it and when i downloaded deathmatch it kept the old corrupted deathmatch (never buy the game half life 2 episode pack), i wanna know how i can fix this. :angry:

Did you go into steam and do the "Register CD key" bit? I'm not sure, but I think with retail you have to install from the discs (Someone feel free to correct me, I havn't bought retail since half life 1)

Ok, lets get this cleared up. Did you:

A: Install the game from the discs?
B: Install steam and register the games?
C: Do something else? If so, what?

Restart Steam.

i have steam but no cd key to register game.

Delete your clientregistry.blob in your Steam folder.

EDIT: ill try to uninstall and install steam.

Since you haven't entered/havent been able to enter the CD Keys, Steam will think that you don't actually own the game yet. This is what is causing your problems. So hmmmmmm...

No listen, it never asked me for a cd key during installation. someone please help me!
