Server list issues

Sorry if this has been posted before - I've been through the forum and couldn't find anything.

I've had no broadband for the last few months, just got it back so now I can play CS again. I've downloaded all the recent updates.

My problem is that the server list is acting weird. I get a list of servers OK with latency of < 100, but most of the time when I try to connect to one, the server info window pops up.
The first few lines show the same info as on the server list, showing the number of players playing, the map, etc., but the text box at the bottom has a message in it saying there's no one playing on the server, and the latency is displayed as 1000 or 2000, and I can't join the server. If I go back and refresh the server list, it still looks fine, and I get the normal latency displayed, and the correct number of players.

The filters on the server list seem to be acting a bit weird too - if I don't select any filters, I get no servers listed? Surely I should get them all? But this isn't as much of an issue as the first one.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Used to happen to me before I changed my ISP.

Have you got all the appropriate ports fowarded for steam use (a shot in the dark)

Also, if you've not already, it's worth looking Here

Thanks for that. Don't think it's my firewall - I have CS:S set up for all the relevant ports. Think my suspiciously fast broadband may be at the expense of occasionally losing the connection - I'll get onto my ISP.

And you've tried totally refreshing the server list?
