As our server community grows. More and more people will be modifying the landscape and building structures. Over the course of the Forum discussions we have established general rules and etiquette. However Those new to the server may have missed these rules. (Such an event lead to the defacement of the lava falls on our previous map.)

I think we need a place where we can discuss and reestablish these rules so then a Mod can put them in a read only thread so that there would be no excuse for not knowing the rules.

Etiquette: If its not your's don't mess with it. Do not rape the landscape in a common/public area (near spawn). Things like that.

Topics for discussion would include: Can a player lay claim to a section of land or mine? What to do if you dig into another persons mine? Should there be a limit to how much space a player can claim? What is the policy on Duping (when is it ok and when is it not). Building codes (Where can you build and in what areas?)

I'll come back withe my own rules/ideas once we get a few posts here.

Ok, its been a while so I think the double post is justifiable.

We need to have a "read before playing" thread where we give new players all the info they need. Etiquette, where not to build... stuff like that.

I found a new player building in the middle of the dry lake bed (which is marked with a sign. he agreed to move, and I sent him out west.

We need to do this to preserve areas we want to keep undeveloped and to protect the new players from having to dismantle their construction.

I marked that lakebed too, just because I thought it was neat. There was also a house shaped hill marked with a sign.

Also, if the player happened to be named "moldymime", i'll take responsibility for it. He's very new to the game and doesn't really understand what we have going on here.

I just started playing on there.. Where can I mine/not mine, and how far away from other structures should I be before building?

Its kinda tricky. It depends on the size of both your structures. If you both are planning on large or multiple structures you should leave more room. Asking your neighbors about their future plans is a good idea too. Also, if you have neighbors you WILL be passive aggressively competing for resources because you will be constantly running into each other's mines. To avoid this run out until there are no neighbors. If you like having neighbors, you'll have to talk to them.

Check you area thoroughly for signs. some people (myself included) mark our boundaries with sings and columns with torches on top. This is the best way to reserve space for future projects

Move, far, far, away from spawn. Build giant ugly things. No one will ever know.
